so i was planning to head out and zero in the a2 this week. i have not shot it yet,

i was looking at the initial settings for the rear sight and realize that is moves left to right (swivels actually) there seems to be a small pin missing in front of the sight that would prevent this.

anyone know what they are called and or where i could get one.

Windage drum roll pin- .375 long x.062 diameter is the only roll pin anywhere near the sight. What you are probably missing is the spring/ball bearing detent on the front of the sight, where it registers against the receiver.

ok i see one ball bearing on the left side of the the mount, but not on the right. is one missing?

there is a 1/8th inch hole in front and below the iron sight that has a matching hole in the sight mount on the rifle and what looks to be threads near the bottom. is there no pin there?

Standard A2 sights have only one ball bearing, and a slight amount of play (under tension) in the assembly is normal. The spring-loaded ball bearing you're seeing is there to keep the position consistent, while still allowing it to be moved for elevation adjustments.

Here's an exploded diagram of all the pieces.

thanks man, great diagram.

so it looks like it is set up properly, i did not expect the thing to move around like that. it seems the thing sits slightly off to the left and it moves alot, for a sight, consider all my rifle experience is with bolt action hunting rifles. i was not expecting that from my sights.

thanks for the info. very helpful.

i am going to zero the sights this week. hopefully my z rail will get here soon as i would like to set up my eotech at the same time.

i don't know how much i will use the iron sights with the eotech installed, but i want them right all the same.
