I've spoken with the owner. He seems like a good guy. They will have another location in Colorado Springs.

Did you get a name? The CS one is maybe a mile from my home, may have to sign up.

It's the Indoor Gun Club. It will be at the old Harley Davidson building. I may be supplying his rental guns as well as his retail stuff.

100 yard indoor sounds great... I might join!

RARGUNS
10-31-2010, 17:28
Pistol caliber only though. It is supposed to be a Class III range. Sub machine guns are okay.

d_striker
10-31-2010, 21:38
Ive been saying for years that an indoor range on the north end of town would do well. I'm definitely going to sign up. I would love to see some sort of bullet trap at the sides of the range to increase the things you could do for uspsa matches.

Why pistol caliber only? You can shoot rifles at WP.

RARGUNS
10-31-2010, 21:45
I don't remember why he said it will only be pistol ammo. I'll call him tomorrow and ask.

Do you recall the owner / partners name(s)?

RARGUNS
10-31-2010, 21:57
No, I have his card around here somewhere. I coach his sons football team. Thats how I met him. I'll find the card and let you know. He lives in the Meadows.

Is it Ty?

RARGUNS
10-31-2010, 22:03
No it's not Ty. I wish he would carry more gun stuff though. Is Ty a member here?

ghettodub
10-31-2010, 22:04
Don't think he is. I should bug him to sign up on here though. Haven't been by the shop in a while...

RARGUNS
10-31-2010, 22:11
He had a few more guns when I was there. He may become a dealer for my stuff soon.

The shop is looking a ton better since he opened it up more and did the new cases. looks nice in there

I shot an email through the web site address about working there. I would love to work there part time instead of stocking shelves at wallyworld. WW has some very interesting aspects to it (soon to be the next topic in the Diatribes thread), but I'll drop and walk in a heartbeat for a gig at a range.

Which club is to be built first? CR or COS?

RARGUNS
11-01-2010, 09:22
I spoke with Clayton (the developer) this morning. He said that once he has secured 200 memberships the project is a go. He will be joining the site and offering some really good membership discounts to CO-AR15 members. The CS location is just north of monument. There will be all kinds of stuff to do with the entire family. There will be Airsoft, Paintball, and an indoor 60 mph go-cart track. I will be also offering additional discounts on my products with membership. As far as which will open first, the CR location could be open in as little as a few months. All pre-construction memberships are refundable minus a 4% cc fee.

ghettodub
11-01-2010, 09:24
sounds pretty cool, but I'm a little hesitant to sign up and pay for anything before it's built. Maybe it's just me, but things like that always seem shady, even if they do say it's refundable.

RARGUNS

I agree 100%. I can't vouch for this deal. I have a meeting with him this afternoon and may have more info as a result. I do know that he's spent a fortune on advertising.

The reason I mentioned Ty over at the Shooting Shop earlier is I know he mentioned a few months back that he was trying to work on something similar

For me it will be the time factor. I'm at the range or in the mountains testing guns just about every weekend. I get tired of driving to Dragon Mans and the mountains. It's a 4 hour ordeal to shoot for an hour.

Why don't you go to the Ben Lomond Gun Club?

RARGUNS

It's expensive and just as far. I can get to the mountains faster than anything else but sometimes it's not possible due to the weather.

Expensive? Hmmm. Not sure I can agree with that statement. An annual membership there was less than 1/12th of my annual ammo budget before I started college. Hell, supporting the club with an FFL etc would probably be seen as work bond and cut the annual in half at least too. That's $50 a year after the initiation fee.

Just sayin...

I had the meeting and he is going to offer you guys a killer discount. I met with one of his partners and I have to say this is for real. Clayton knows what he is doing. I will post the special as soon as he sends me the details.

You are correct! It's not near as much as I thought it was. I was under the impression there was a $375. initial fee and $75 per month.

Well, I checked out their fancy website, and it looks like they are asking for 300 deposits before they even break ground on the construction. wtf, over?

From a business perspective, it's a great idea, but it could go wrong a hundred different ways for the members.

esaabye
11-28-2010, 18:15
It is a membership model, not that uncommon.

If you read into the site you will see they are offering "Preconstruction" memberships at 50%. Earlier in the thread you will see they offered extra % off for web menbers (co-ar15.com).

They state they will return the funds if the building is not completed in a set time (this is in the contract).

While this may not be a model you want to participate in it is common for membership based clubs of many sorts including golf and country clubs.

I signed up. I'm not woried about losing the $120, I know the area and think they will do just fine. You are welcome to wait until it is built and pay the full amount.

Disappointing news, if the location is moved will there be a way to get a refund?

Still interested but if it's going to be in Monument or a similar location...well, why bother driving out there when I can drive an extra 10 minutes and get to GGC or Ben Lomond?

I am curious as to how this will pan out this range was all hot and skippy to open up
http://www.centennialgunclub.com/
but the sign that they had up that said coming soon at the location has been down for a long time the website has not changed etc.
I wonder where in Castle rock this will be located If it is not more than 30 min from parker and arapahoe i am down.

Curious myself and just a bit skeptical. Are these the same folks as the centennial club? Sure looks like the same business model and setup. They can promise you'll get your money back, but you are still SOL if they go belly up. I think they're at the gun shows. May just wander over and see what the sales pitch is and if they answer a few questions.

RARGUNS

It's not the same people. If what they say is true about the escrow account, you would get your money back no matter what since it's in a third party account. I know Clayton and he doesn't have anything to do with the Centennial location.

Someone told me they went to the location in Castle Rock and it is an auto repair shop. The owner of the auto repair shop says he has a five year lease on the building. I would encourage those looking to join to do their due diligence.

I have spoken with the guy several times, plans keep changing and promises get bigger and farther away.

Last word was he had the land in cs but the castle rock was going to move to centennial. Also that they needed some financing but prior he said they had all cash.

At this point, wait and see but don't hold your breath.

yeah it's been like a year since i signed up with nothing but a website to show for it, how long is it going to take before this guy gives it up and refunds people or starts making progress? at least those centennial gun club guys keep showing up at tanner every month. i know he keeps putting money into advertising because i've seen some of the ads floating around so he still wants to do it but he doesn't even update the website...

What shop in the Springs? I did see a new shop in Monument, even checked it out once last week, over priced and overstaffed.

I asked Clayton for a refund which he says he put thru to my CC but I have not been able to verify it yet.

Hate to say so, I thought I smelled something back in January. [Shock] Hope you folks catch up with this guy and square up with him.

Whether it's Centennial or Castle Rock or anywhere else, I would stay away from anyone who wants to collect enough membership money up front to pay for the entire cost of the gun club. They are assuming NO risk and playing with YOUR money. At the end of the day they just walk away. Isn't it funny how they are all following the same business model, the plans and layouts all look the same & NO ONE has yet to break ground???
