Remember, remember the Fifth of November
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot

Why do we celebrate this Catholic Terrorist?

I love how the little anarchist kids don their Guy Fawkes masks like he's some sort of champion of freedom when in reality he wanted to kill off the British government and turn control of England over to the Pope. Next he would have started rounding up Anglicans and exterminating them :p

That and the rhyme is about how the plot FAILED.

I have never understood the fascination with him, or the movie.

Had he done his thing post Marx, He would be considered a lefty agitator.

As far a "V for Vendetta" goes, Has anybody actually watched that,
beyond the action sequences?

The underlying plot is He is doing his stuff against a Right wing, totalitarian, Police state government.

Can anybody cite me a historical example of a Right wing, totalitarian, police state government?

That movie is on of the finest examples of leftist propaganda I have seen in a long time..

That's too easy Marlin, I was going to say Fascist Italy & Nazi Germany off the top of my head.
http://www.netcharles.com/orwell/articles/col-totalitarianism.htm

Regimes approximated as totalitarian have developed in the twentieth century through new techniques that mobilize entire populations in support of the state and a political ideology. The main examples of regimes considered totalitarian are Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin. Totalitarian systems, however, may not be as monolithic as they appear, since they may hide a process in which several groups—the army, political leaders, industrialists, and others—compete for power and influence.

you folks do realize that the reason we have the second amendment is so the people can violently overthrow the government at will, right?

if you think it's about promoting a return to catholicism in britain, celebrating terrorisim or leftist propaganda you are ignorant.

I agree and and disagree with this. that was its original intention.
could it still happen today, yes, if everyone had enough as a whole, including most military members and police officers.

but being that the .mil has massive amounts of fire power compared to our ARs and M1s and AKs, it would take a hell of a force to overthrow the .gov.

not that it couldn't be done, but back in the day when it would have been musket for musket, that was a lot better odds. today when it is AR-15 with a beta mag vs. a F-16 with a laser guided bomb, the odds don't seem to stack up as well!

That is just the reality. I also look at another reason for the 2nd is for self defense. With more and more people hitting rock bottom these days and brainless wonders robbing and stealing whatever they can, the 2nd plays a vital role in keeping society as a whole in check. "an armed society is a polite society"

if there really was a full on govt. vs. citizens fight where they brought the full might of the military to bear on the population the only way the govt could could would be by nuking us.

I was going to bring up a similar point. What is the point of trying to "win" if after the war there is no one for the government to "govern" anymore? Who are they going to tax to pay for all the damage?

yes and no.

I look at the .mil vs the taliban, and these guys still survive in caves and in secrecy living amongst the rest of the population.

I guess it all depends on how it all went down. it could come to a nuke, it could be a slow and painful picking off of the "bad citizens", whom would live in fear daily, absolute secrecy because there would be many people looking to get ahead by throwing others under the bus.

Either way, I wish we were allowed to better defend ourselves and we could own tanks and attack choppers and fighters. I think it would only be fair[Beer]

I believe the government would survive regardless of whatever civil violations they imposed on "We the People".
Too many Sheeple,
look at the number of registered voters vs the actual turnout, now compare this to the number of eligible voters.

"Yeah whatever, pay taxes, go to work, keep head down. Avoid, Hide and Deny."

Yeah, they say the "Conservative party" took over and that's what he's fighting against. Unless conservative means the exact opposite it England, then it should be the liberal party.

I think you need to recheck your examples... Fascism and National Socialism are just different flavors of the same Marxist ideology, not "right wing totalitarian ploice states". Now if you said left wing or liberal, then your examples would be correct.

Left and Right are lies told by the progressives.

To say that the entire spectrum of political ideology lies between Communism on the left and Fascism on the right makes as much sense as saying the entire spectrum of musical styles lies between West Coast Hip Hop on the left and East Coast Hip Hop on the right.

Communist = Socialist = Fascist ... all variations on the same failed ideology of collectivism (hell you could probably throw Islamist on that list there too).
