Since this is an Ar-15 site and since every one is unique, I thought I'd ask the age old Ar-15 question:

What is YOUR dream build?

List specs/accessories and any other thoughts... (pics are alwsy nice too)
Let's try not to get on name bashing, or giving advice like "you can get it so much cheaper.." etc.

I'll start I guess:

Bear's dream build -

Noveske 14.5 with VIS and Switchblock
Flip up front/rear BUIS
12 inch rails
Gas Buster Charging Handle
Magpul PRS stock
Crimson Trace MVF-515 Green (light and laser)
Eotech (with mag.... not sure)
PVS 14
Silencer (AAC/Gemtech... dont' know)

I picked the 12 inch rails cause I really don't like the look of (in my view) "excess" barrel protruding.

I would like a formed pistol grip... but haven't found one yet...

And that's about all I know... haha.

spr mk 12 mod 0. i actually could do it (assuming i didn't want every single piece to be THE exact brand and everything) but i don't really think its worth it. still, ive always loved the look and feel of them. i instead built a mod 1 for quite a bit cheaper and it works just as well.

Should probably add some detail and explanations...

For instance, what does "spr mk12 mod 0" mean?

We were thinking of producing a MK12 but I'm not really sure that there is a market for them because of the price.

Anyway, I had a dream gun that I actually got to build.

Is the Full Auto markings for show or do you actually get to use them?
Is that the new Magpul handguard?

I've got to build 2 out of 4 of mine:

1. TI lower, CMMG 2 stage adjustable match trigger, Vltor, Magpul, gas buster, KNS, Harris. YHM free float Upper, 16" 1:7, Phantom QD adapter with Phantom Can, EOTech and 3x magnifier (kinda wish now I'd just gone ACOG).

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/gcrookston/DSC00284.jpg

2. Spike's lower, Bushmaster 2 stage adjustable match trigger, KNS, Magpul, Pachmyer, Harris. Bushmaster 24" varminter free float upper, GG&G mount, Burris XTR, Krylon...

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/gcrookston/DSC00185.jpg

3. Didn't build it, but if I had it wouldn't be any different: Armalite Super SASS, Mk4 LRT 8.5x25, Harris, YHM (I did build the M21 behind it, however):

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj19/gcrookston/DSC00176-1.jpg

And I've got a couple spare TI lowers, been toying with the idea of putting together a Mk12Mod0...

Kewl stuff gcrookston...

I particulary like that stock on the very last photo with the adjustable thingys... (names are escaping me for the moment....)

Why do you wish you'd gone with an Acog?

like i said i love the mk12mod0 but the stuff you need to build it is so overpriced. if you want to build the legit one, then that stuff is INSANELY overpriced. its kinda like building an sr25 versus building one that looks and performs just like it for half the price. i mean the pri front set and rail sleeve alone runs over $500. i would still consider getting that, but then a KAC two stage trigger can run near $300, lmt stocks are $250 or so for the whole thing, it just gets crazy expensive. ive sene threads where to build to real deal it costs around $4500, although when i considered building one you could use different manufacturer's and make one, with optics, for around $1600. get the lmt and pri set but then skimp on everything else, like getting a RRA two stage, different scope, different scope mount, different barrel (like a WOA 18") etc. but then of course if you want the ops inc, youre talking another $150-200

monopod? It's made by Accu-shot, mine's a model BT-13. It makes for a rock-solid platform. They are also available through Magpul (if you want to pay extra)...

I'd a little experience with an ACOG in the early 90's and wasn't impressed at the time. After I picked up the Eotech and Magnifier I got a chance to shoot a TA01NSN and quite liked it -- it was about the same price.

The barrel is a YHM 14.5 fluted 1:9 twist barrel.

The full auto is for show unless you know where I can get a DIAS very cheap.

The hand guard is a Vltor CASV-M

This is an SPR Mk 12 Mod 0. I had lusted after one of these myself, and finally got one, with a couple of minor diffs. Mine doesn't have the Ops, Inc. brake, has a lo pro gas block, and it has a magpul CTR stock. I may fix the brake one of these days, but the stock is staying. The fore-end is a PRI carbon fiber free float tube. Mine loves Hornady 68 gr. BTHP's using Ramshot TAC. Mine was built on a Colt A3 that had the A-frame hacked, I switched it out for the lo-pro gas block.

As for the dream build, mine is-
Young Mfg. Lower with a Y/M Chrome NM bolt carrier, JP trigger, MIAD grip and a Magpul PRS stock.
flattop upper with a 20" CM 6.5 Grendel barrel, YHM diamond rail, GG&G bipod.

Thats a pretty good version. We just released our own version with a billet upper and lower. I think you got the spirit of the actual rifle. They're many variations.

Sorry to resurrect this, but I was doing some searches for other items and found this thread. I am currently building mine too.

Still up in the air on all the parts but this is what I have so far.

Spykes lower
Magpul (have to support a great local company like Magpul CTR stock (milspec)
Magpul MOE grip
Magpul P mags
Magpul trigger guard
Magpul ASAP - Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point
Magpul Front flip up BUIS

Upper (still deciding on what I can afford) but it looks like it is shaping up to be this. I really am trying to buy the best I can. Do it right the first time.

Noveske barrel (still wavering on 18 vs 16 and light weight vs normal)

Fail Zero upper (black), BCG, charging handle, and hammer
http://www.failzero.com/armory/m164-rifle-kits.html

Samson Evolution rail 13 in (I really don't like exposed barrel either). I have heard these are a slightly larger diameter than Troy or Vtac. I previous had purchased a prebuilt upper that had a VTac rail. I was disappointed that the lower backing plate for the rail hit my gasblock. So I want to make sure that does not happen again.

Rainier Arms Xtreme Tactical Compensator

Well that is what I have so far.

If you need an XTC I'll be selling one soon, off my SR-15.

My dream build would be the SR-15 Magpul edition rifle.

My dream build would be an SBR.

Starting with the lower:
POF 415 gen 3 lower
JP tactical single stage trigger
Magpul MIAD grip
PWS enhanced buffer tube
Tubb 2000 CS flat wire buffer spring
PWS/Spikes tactical heavy buffer
Magpul ACS stock
Ambi selecter
KNS non rotating pins

Upper:
LWRC m6A2 upper 12.7" (I would leave most the work to the factory guys on the upper)
Samson 11" evolution rail
Battle Comp BC1

EOtech XPS3-4 with G23 FTS magnifier

misc. goodies:
POF roller cam pin
BCM gunfighter charging handle
Magpul MRVG
VTac offset lightmount
Samson evolution QD mounts

2008f450
03-25-2011, 07:52
My ultimate build:

.45 ACP SBR AR Working name "Thumper"

Bazooka bros .45 lower (uses grease gun mags with no adapters)
Winter trigger guard upgrade
7 inch flat top upper with a 7 MOA red dot and flip up back up sights
3 position switch (safe,semi,3shot burst)
sound supressor
Still debating colapsible stock VS fixed shorty stock
White light
Single point bungee type sling
Ergo grip
Black Talon ammo because I can and I still have 5000 rds of the stuff
[UZI]

I am actually about to order the lower so except for the 3 position switch it will probably be done in the next 12-18 months.

I want to build one just like FireMoth's... Light and maneuverable.
