I am thinking on getting the XPS 2.0, since I don't need night vision. However the EXPS 3.0 has the buttons on the side and the quick disconnect. Does anyone think the NV and QD are worth the extra $100. Since the only place that offers the EXPS 2.0 is Optics planet and it's $459 after rebate. With the 20% I can get the EXPS 3.0 for less than that.

WARNING NOOB question follows:

I have a S&W M&P 15 MOE with flat top...Would the XPS 2.0 require a separate mount? If so isn't the EXPS 3.0 the better deal with QD mount and NV?

Thanks

XPS quick Release (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=316046&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-Optics%20-%20Scope%20Rings,%20Bases,%20Mounting%20%26%20Acce ssories-_-PriceCompListing-_-316046)

Nothing wrong on M&P rilfes, no extra mount needed. NV's useless unless you NEED NV.

I say it depends on how much $ you want to spend... and the use you will get from the product...
It has been my experience that when I can get a deal on something...
I always try to get the best I can afford at the time... then I don't have to say.. "Shoot, shoulda.... "

On the same topic... re: XPS
Anybody tried these?

Gents,
Thanks for the advice. My dilemna is I like the buttons on the side of the optic like the EXPS (in case I ever get a magnifyer). If I buy a separate Quick Disconnect, I'm basically paying the same amount as the EXPS 3.0 with the 20% discount from Botach Tactical. Also if I buy a separate QD according to EoTech it voids part of the warranty.

I think I'm talking myself into the EXPS...eventhough I don't need night vision (at this time)...

Funk just like you ...don't like having to say shoulda
Decisions decisions

Thanks again gentlemen!

Just heard back from EoTech...the EXPS 2.0 non-Optics Planet version will go into production in January 2011

Do I wait and hope Botach does another 20% off since I don't need the NV...

I've been running EOT's for about 4 or so years now, while I'm not chasing down smell bearded bastards who wear dresses and live in caves and then face shooting em'.. but I also run LaRue Po'Boys behind them. So I can say that with a magnifier behind the normal config that I don't have issues with the buttons.

So ask yourself these kinds of questions and you'll have your answer:
Seriously, how much do you expect to be jacking with the brightness?
Are you going to need to do this under stress and gloved?
As for QD, are you really going to be pulling the optic on and off the rifle a bunch?
** Sure if it takes a hit, smash or micro meteorite you'll want to pull it, but really?
Having a QD mount like a LaRue EOTech riser WILL NOT VOID ANY WARRANTY! If it does I'll buy you a brand new one.
Have you even run an EOTech yet? Are you sure this is the right optic for you? Most folks find that they favor and are better running either EOTech or AimPoint . Plenty of shooters here that would be happy to catch up with you and let you try either and or both in the same trip..
Are wiz bang features worth the extra $100 to you?

As for the EOT working on the M&P Rail ... yup, that's what they are designed to mount to.. Picatinny 1913 rail systems, no worries there.

So what are you going to use for back up sights? See now you get into another question about co-witnessing, but do a quick search and you'll see some threads on that topic already. If not, just ask, someone who types way too much when on his pain killers will surely respond :)

Just because... Here's an interesting bit of new out of a trainer at Quantico from about a week ago (re XPS):

Just sayin..

i read this post as well. if you search internet. everyone quotes this. but nobody else has had this experience. (at this level)

my opinion, is this is bullshit. give me a fucking break. i have used an m16 with optics and dropped it threw it down, seen them fall out of helicopters, knocked over, used as crutches, etc. and never seen this failure rate. sure a few, i would believe. but the percentages here sound like pure unadulterated internet bullshit. notice if you search there are no other instances like this. dont you think we would have heard something from multiple sources if this was true?
also they all break down at the same amount of hours? what they installed hour/meters? no round count? bs

everyone quotes some lightfighter poster. i call bullshit.

oh, and i dont own an eotech, i have never owned an eotech. i dont like relying on electronics, because i believe they can fail. but, this is blown out of proportion. i am not against owning the electronic optics. i just think, you must run an iron sight as well. BUIS.

Thanks to all who took time to post. I truly appreciate your help and insight.

Badshot your questions truly helped me in the decision...Looks like a XPS 2.0 wll suit my needs just fine, but I will definitely see about actually shooting through EoTech and Aimpoint vice just looking through them at gunshows and sporting goods stores.

Ahhh:

1. (http://botached.urbanup.com/4959060) Botached buy botached mugs, tshirts and magnets
To be fooled by a company into ordering something that you believe to be in stock, only to find out weeks later when you email them asking if it has shipped yet, that it is indefinitely backordered.
When ordering anything from Botach Tactical, prepare to be Botached.

Got the Eotech Optic in today from Botach Tactical...No problems with Botach at all.

Question for those with Eotech Opticals. My XPS 2.0 optical is not very clear looks like a starry night no matter what brightness setting...it is a new Optic has a 9-29-10 inspection tag. Is that normal for this optic?

TIA

The actual reticle it made up of tiny dots. That's normal.

Also, you aren't really supposed to try and focus on the reticle itself. You focus on whatever you are trying to hit.

You can read more about it here:

Hope that helps.

I went to the site and read all that prior to posting my question. The optics in the stores I looked were not as" bad" pixilated as what I'm seeing through the optic I have. I'm going to revisit a few local stores and check out the optic there again to make sure my eyes aren't playing tricks on me.

Thanks!
