View Full Version : Gander Mountain 104th & Grant
Just have to rant a bit. These idiots have had a S&W Night Guard in 44 Special sitting with their used guns for months. Their price was well over $800 and so there it sat. This morning I wandered in right before lunch and they had a sale tag on it for $749 plus an additional $112 off bringing it down below $640. For that price I was very tempted but had to go meet my wife for lunch so just figured I would think about it while I ate. So I go back two hours later with my mind made up to buy it and the revolver is now in a different display case and the sale tag is gone. So, I ask them about the sale price that was on it and they denied that there was ever a sales tag on it. If they had just told me that the price on it was a mistake I would be cool with that and just kicked myself for not buying it earlier. But don't outright lie to me and insult my intelligence. I may be a lot of things but two of them aren't gullible or stupid. Needless to say I won't be spending another dime in their store on anything and encourage everyone else to do the same. What a bunch of douche bags.
I live basically right down the street from them. I've been in there once and as is typical for these places, their firearms were way overpriced. Either way, knowing what happened to you, I will definitely not set foot in there again. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Oh, They have been on the "list" for a long time..
I just go in there when I need a good laugh..

Their ammo prices have always given me a laugh. What's bad is during the ammo crisis, people were actually in there buying the stuff.

I have been in there just enough times to know that no one ever waits on you. I have wandered around looking at guns and ammo and so on and no one has ever asked if I needed help. They just walk on by......and so will I.......[Neene1]

Yup-I stood at the gun counter(alone) forever one day and they kept chatting among themselves and I finally just left after telling the Mgr. what I thought about their customer service. [Bang]

I will confess I took advantage of their ATI 223 sale this last week, but that is the ONLY reason I went in there. I too live a stones throw away and will NEVER purchase a firearm from them.
About 3 years ago I was perusing the used rack and they had a standard Springfield M1A that had seen a hard life. Front sight broken, rear sight missing and forend cracked. I thought it might make a good project piece if the price was right. I flipped the tag over and they were asking $1299.00[ROFL2]
I asked one of the salepersons if that price was correct and she sent the Hunting manager over. He told me that the price was correct and non-negotiable because this was a rare M14.
I chuckled to myself and asked him what made it an M14. He told me that only Springfield made M14 rifles. I asked him if it was select fire. He told me yes, I could select safe or fire.
I laughed out loud and told him he may know all about an A bolt or Citori but he needs to learn a bit about his Battle rifles.
About a year later I learned they are a good place to get rid of a junk gun. I picked up a NIB Bushmaster A2 that just would not run. I changed the gas rings, lapped and staked the key etc but no matter what I did it just would not run. I sent it back to Bushmaster but even when it came back it still would not run.
took it to Gander and they gave me $50.00 more for it than I paid for it. No "Gunsmith Inspection" or anything.
Beware of any used firearm at Gander

I think I remember seeing that one,, I just laughed at it.. I think they were afraid to come over anyway.. Couple of weeks later, I was at the HD near there so I dropped in. The price was lowered by $25...
They had a single shot .410 bore SnakeCharmer in there for like $250 for years. I wanted to go in there and offer them $100 cash for it just to get it off their shelf. Glad I didn't waste my time.

I only buy things there when it's on sale/clearance. For an out doors store they sure are stuck up. I have been to the one on a 104th and I now live in Aurora so I went to the one down here same thing down here. There employee training must have a huge chapter on how to drive customers away.
I also live a just 15mins from there. I was looking for new pheasant gun and they had a very, very, very used SP-87 in the used rack for like 565. Place is a joke. For a big chain store, sportsmans on 84th is ok. I get my #6 shot from there for a good price.

I really think that their retard purchasing agent hasn't noticed that ammo prices have come DOWN since the Obama-just-got elected/metal-prices-went-through-the-roof scare; they still have things priced at 08 levels.
They used to have some decent prices on used guns, but even that has gone away since they rearranged the gun section.
Wow. I'm really sorry to see all of these posts. I've actually been working in firearms at Gander for the past 5ish months as a second job to save money for when i start the academy next month and I try my hardest to make sure I get all of the customers taken care of.
I wont say that any of your points are without validity because i agree with alot of what has been said, and I encourage all of you that have had bad experiences to call our store manager Chris and tell him what's going on.
I wont make any excuses for the company or its staff but I will tell you that none of us working behind that counter are happy about the circumstances corporate has put us in and we really do try to take care of the people who come in as best as we can despite that.
Like I said, if anyone has an issue with the store or its service, please call the store manager Chris or the firearms manager Keith and let them know.
This wasn't a pitch for Gander at all, I just hate hearing that people aren't satisfied with the service in my department.

I've found a couple good deals through their used guns and even a couple new guns. Although it was all before their remodel. Since then, I have not found many deals. I did get an electronic predator call there a week ago for something like $38.00 out the door. It was a Johnny Stewart Preymaster.
I miss their old floor layout, it was one of the few places you could still go and handle guns without having to hand them back to the sales person.
