The old "artillery" simulators were great for that. I watched a guy do it back in the 70's. Pull the cord, throw up stream. after it goes off just wade out with the net.

As a kid on the farm we'd take out tree stumps with a mixture of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and diesel fuel (ANFO)... awe the good old days before we knew we could put our eyes out with such things.
