Roll call on who's got them.

As for mine it was easy, one day class from Gunsmoke in Lakewood. Douglas county seems like we have it pretty easy !

My permit out of Jeffco still has John Stones signature on it  I have to renew it this year.

Funny part is only about 400 of us had permits before the law changed to shall issue now there is thousands? Why the hell did all these people not get one before?

The reason people couldn't get them before the law, was that very few Sheriff's would sign, for one reason or another. In Arapahoe County, the unwritten law was that you had to live in unincorporated Arapahoe, or you would get flat out denied. Luckily, at the time I lived in unincorporated Arapahoe, and I also worked at the S.O., so both my wife and I didn't have any problems - but we knew plenty of folks who did.

13 years and counting....El Paso

Better question....do you pack and what do you pack?

10% on person
50% within 5 feet
95% withing 25 feet

G20 on person
Taurus 605 when it needs to be small
SA 1911 Champion when I think only a .45ACP will do
Beretta 9000S close by
Ruger P89 close by

ALWAYS on person except in restricted areas. S&W Model 340PD. Sometimes have my S&W Model 38 as backup too. Karl.

CO (El Paso) since 97, out-of-state FL since 2003. Got the FL to cover Louisiana, which has since added CO reciprocity, but the FL still covers some states that don't honor CO.

Got my trusty G26 - pimped out with a lasermax guide rod and meprolight tritiums. Sometimes carry an HP22 if I need to be really lightweight and discreet, or as a BUG.

PS for an inexpensive small handgun, the Phoenix HP22 is not totally crappy, and can give you 12+1 .22LR for a very small and light backup.

Got first one in 1994 from Florence Police Dept, then renewed in 1999 but moved to El Paso County later that year and renewed with El Paso County Sheriff's office = 12 years so far.

Kahr MK9 IWB in Alessi leather PLUS a Kahr PM9 on the ankle in DeSantis Apache. Sometimes I whip out the G19 in a Versa Max II, or stuff a j-frame in a pocket for variety.

Just out of curiousity, do you have to be a US citizen to apply for a CCW? I am very new to all the cool gun stuff this state has to offer.
I hold a green card, soon to be able to appy for citizenship, and thought i read somwhere that you need to be a citizen.
I do have a firearms permit, taken many firearms classes, and had a hunting license since before i was able to drive.
Anyone got an idea?
Thanks in advance!

AFACT, no. (IANAL, etc. )

check out this post further down: http://coloradoshooting.org/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3914

Basically, anyone that's legal to buy a handgun should be able to get CCW.

If you want it straight from the horses mouth, check out the CBI site here: http://cbi.state.co.us/ccw/ (particularly the 'statutes' section)

let us know if you find anything out

For those of you bitching about the time it takes. Back in the day it took me 4 months for my permit out of Jeffco. Be thankful for the new law it was much worse before.

It took almost the full three months from Elbert County to get mine. Still waiting on the Utah to arrive. I need to pack in MN!.

The first day I got my Elbert county permit, I went to Safeway in Elizabeth, packing for the first time. You know, a little nervous with a tucked out shirt. Well, everithing went OK till I reached the check out counter. As I loked back, THE county sheriff was standing behind me! He had just signed his name on my lisence and probaly knew I was packing. I said, "Hi, Sheriff."... twice! I sure was obvious, at least to the sheriff who made no comment... It was good for a laugh for my first time.

My UT only took a month, maybe a few days less. I was out of town when it came.
