Sounds like a fun time - cold, but fun.

Where is the Cheyenne Rifle & Pistol Club located?

ETA: Nevermind. I found this info online:
http://www.cheyennerifleandpistolclub.org/ (Cheyenne, WY)

I fixed it for you. Rifles allowed are M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1A, or AR15. 56 round rifle match. 8 rounds per magazine or clip. There is also a 21 round pistol match, three 7 round mags (because the standard issue sidearm was a 1911). No revolvers. This is a rifle match designed for M1 Garands because of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. A little history may help you understand. So I'm guessing a Mosin-Nagant might be poor form.

I just talked to the match director and he said M4 style AR's are allowed. He would prefer the use of iron sights, to keep it fair and competitive. It is this Saturday at 10am. Bring whatever you want to shoot and have fun. Hope to see some of you there.

What a great day to shoot! The weather was cold but the wind was to our backs. I ended up getting 1st place. 28 people showed up ready to have fun and benefit a great cause. I am definately going next year. That is the nicest range I've been to so far.

Good for you, congrates...

Did you have mostly period rifles shooting? Did the AR's get a different div?

What were the total points and what was your score?

Most of the guys were shooting M1 Garands, one guy had an Enfield, two people had AR's in service rifle configuration, and me and three other guys had M1A/M14's. Out of a possible 400 points, I scored a 307 with 17 bulls. These were silhouette targets, and we shot at 400, 300, 200 rifle, and 25 yard pistol. Two people had scoped rifles (M1A and Enfield).

Here is a link to the picture of the targets:

People were shooting those tiny targets at 400 yards without a scope? Amazing.
