View Full Version : Question about a CZ 27.. HELP please
A friend of mine has a CZ 27 that was left to him. He wanted to know what it is worth. From what I have looked up on the web the serial numbers start at 20000, well this one is serial number 25xxx. and is nazi marked. barrel reciver and slide numbers match. does that make it worth more? any info would be helpful thanks.
All the other CZ27's I could find for sale are serial numbered 200000+

There were well over 600,000 of these made during its production run. Well over 400,000 were made between 1938-1945 under German Occupation.
They are not exactly rare, nor are they heavily pursued by collectors, even though the majority of the war time production units went to the Luftwaffe and various police units -- who's weaponry usually fetches a premium to collectors of Third Reich.
During it's production there were about half a dozen variants.
Unless there is something exceptionally unique about your friends pistol, the value will come down to condition. I've bought and sold complete rigs for from $250 to $450 based on condition. One of my Associates recently sold one that was a 1942 vintage Railway Police issue NIB with tools and manual for $850.00.
Jan Still's excellent "Axis Pistols" goes as in-depth into this neglected pistol as anyone has. Unfortunately I do not presently have access to my copy.
Thanks for the info. I was just thinking that the low serial number might do something for it but I guess not. Its a cool gun I think I might try to take it off his hands since he is not much of a gun guy.

The low serial number would be indicative of being "high polish" and the early production tends to fetch a little more than the later production because they are more finely crafted. It will also probably be marked "BOHIMISCHE" instead of 'fnh' on the slide.
The value will be based on condition. Additional value can be surmised depending upon which branch accepted it, but condition will be the driving factor.
