Just thought I would create a quick poll to see where we might be with regard to our logo ideas. I don't wish to convey this is a definitive poll to choose a logo, rather just a means to see where we are and what further needs to be done. Possible once we have a good selection of 3-4 ideas we can create a final vote.

PS - On Versions A-E please pass on any comments you might have on how to improve these logos: fonts, colors, text, graphics - all a pretty easy to change.

Also, if you have an idea on a new graphic but don't have the where-with-all to build it, let me know your ideas and I'll see what I can do.

Ranger - when you say "same background" are you referring to the sage colored background behind the current logo? We can pretty much make the background any color we wish, but for purposes of design, we probably need to keep it neutral (no color), as the logo will eventually have a variety of uses, including websites, T-shirts, patches, whatever. The thing to keep in mind is that those items will all have different background colors, so we probably don't want to include the background color in the logo itself, as then we will be forced to create the rectangle box of the background color on all items, even if the background color doesn't match the items we are mounting it on. For example, the rectangle sage color will probalby not look good if placed on a black t-shirt.

Like I said, we can pretty much do whatever we want, so let me know if this thought on logo design changes your view.

I have grown quite fond of the current logo maybe update it with a 30 rnd mag or better yet a C-Mag  Seriously though, I do like the current one, it resonate's some how.

B or C, depending on the board name. Karl.

I like D and E. I also like the current one. A point to consider would be, which one more easily lends itself to emboridery or screen printing.

Didn't you do one with stencil letters too? The biline is nice. "Promoting...." Do we have any alternates for that? The biline I have on the Colorado site is "Bringing All Colorado Shooters Together" The current one is fine, lets just wring it all out before we finalize it.

The current one is nice, but I agree perhaps the rifle could be changed. The only problem I have with E is that it isn't a true preban. (No bayo lug.) No big deal just an observation.

I built the place, but I'd really like it if you guys picked the logo, since its you, not me, who make this place on a daily basis. And I really appreciate all the work Snacko is doing on this. Lets all give him a big hand for all his work!

I like the current logo the best. But it needs a mag. What good is a gun if you have no way to feed it?

Or I like version C

Since trying to create a logo, I have found that one of the issues is trying to find a graphic of an M-16/AR-15 that meets not only the standards you all are asking for (30 round mag, pre-ban, etc.), but also one that contains sufficient detail. I've found lots of pics of ARs around, but they are generally pretty small, and when you include them in a highly detailed graphic, you will only get a pixilated mess.

For the logo that I proposed that contained the M4, I was actually able to scan than from a Colt paper catalogue I had, so it was easy for me to control the detail. That is why that one looks so good. But the 20" rifles Colt had pictures of in the catalogue were all post-bans, with no flash hiders and puny mags.

The version of the logo I recently created with the 20" rifle was the best I was able to find, and actually it is not too bad in terms of being able to work with it. I was able to cut-and-paste and 30 round mag on there, but as bossman pointed out, there is no bayo lug. Maybe I can paste one on there as well.

If I could ask one question: what aspect of the current logo makes it attractive? Color? Rifle? Font? Maybe I can try to meld the two for a "best of both worlds" look.

nothing wrong with the logo, but I like D the best.

if anything comes of this, I think it would be a good idea to "update" the current logo with a "standard" capacity magazine and I like the tags put in Snacko's pictures about safety and the url for the site.

Just some thoughts.

Personaly I'm inclined to go with a classic 20 inch A2 profile with a 20 rnd mag. I say this because I always thought that the 10 rnd is to short, and the 30 rnd is to long to make it look balanced. The 30 just makes it look front heavy. I think with a 20 rnd mag, the porportions look best.

Many of the rifles in the slections looked to light in color - washed out.

For most of the slections they have the multi colored words, that is going to jump cost, and be hard to read on some background colors. For most color backgrounds basic black usualy does best.

Does it need a bayo lug? I personaly don't think so, it's just one more bit of detail that woulds likely get blured into a " what is that blob ? ". :?

I have several pics of my AR-15, that I took, to work on the logo for the old site. They are high resolution, and with some cropping - to remove feet and scope ( & mount ) it looks just like the classic military version, without the bayo lug. Your welcom to use them, just let me know.

Ok, in attempt to reply to those who want the pre-ban full-rifle look, I've taken a little creative license and built an M-16/AR-15 that has all the evil features. Pretty cool, given that I had to cut-and-paste the 30 round mag, bayo lug, and flash hider. Looks natural. It's listed as Version F.

My guess is that we may never come to full agreement on the type of rifle we should use. My personal feeling is that we should not placate the PC types, but at the same time we have to recognize the inherent responsibility that goes along with our sport. That's why I think a pre-ban look with 30 round mag is fine, but we do need the have the text at the bottom to demonstrate our interest in safety and yet doesn't necessarily bang the 2nd Amendment drum.

True, but, I'm thinking that for most people the post ban would be more represenitive, and will be unless the AW sunset actualy happens.

You right, althow, I suspect PC types will find offence no matter what is done.

I like F. But since you've added that, you'll need a new poll now. Karl.

I like F too. One thing though. Is the flag correct? It looks like the C is closer to the middle then usual. Maybe my old eyes are seeing things. It just looks more "centered" then the one on the "old" logo.

Nice picture though. I like the rifle a lot.
