This is a pic of my current set up. I started this thread to see what else is here in Junction. Throw down some of your pics and show everyone what you have! This is a CMMG upper and lower with a FailZero bolt and carrier group. Lothar Walther 1/9 HBAR with a YHM flash suppressor, YHM 10" Picatinny rail set up, VLTOR I-MOD, Magpul mags with ranger plates, PMAG clamps, and a MAID grip, EoTech 512, and a few more goodies.http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h403/asrspyder/SANY0054.jpg

Is there anyone in this club that is in Grand Junction? Seems like everyone is on the eastern slope.

WTF-"guns in Grand Junction" not to mention apparently couches also. [ROFL1]
Nice setup Spyder. There's other Western Slopers here but it does seem it's more Front Rangers. Welcome by the way [Beer]

Ya Stag, there is a lot of couch in that picture... good thing more of the picture will be filled up with a few more guns here shortly! Thanks for the welcome also.

Stuart: A Grand Junction is a thing in which if you enter it, you will be stuck in it forever... [ROFL1] Grand Junction is the "biggest" city, well town on the western slope. About 60 thousand total people are in the area over here (Junction, Palisade, Fruita), 45 thousand in Junction alone.

Fox, have you seen what Jimmy's prices are on the parts you need still?

You have an FFL? How do you go about doing that? I haven't even considered going that route untill a conversation I had Friday about doing it. Mainly, I just order a lot of my stuff and have to have it shipped in. I am gettin tired of having to pay $20 every time I do it. Well, Cabela's lets you go through them for free, but I am gettin tired of the looks when you go to pick up your new gun, and everyone looks at you like you're evil for not purchasing it there.

Oh yeah! That place on the way to Green River! ;)

Welcome to the board.

Isn't the C&R for older guns? I guess for what I want the FFL 01 for is a little overboard. I think I will just have to put up with the people at Cabela's for now. I told them though, if they would just lower their prices, I would shop with them! Then, Mike, one of the gun counter managers walked away from me [ROFL1]. It would just be nice to have them shipped right to me. Oh well.

Ya, Stuart, we are in that little truck stop after you get out of the mountains on the way to Green River. Thanks for the welcome!

Hey, anyone know of any cases, not actual gun or rifle cases, to make a gun case out of? I want to get a 33" - 40" case to put my AR into. Something like my old Dewalt case turned discreet 45 case.

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h403/asrspyder/Myguns.jpg

I wish they made some other kind of license where a normal buyer could just buy direct, not an FFL 01. However, if I do plan on selling a few of my guns, is there a limit to how many I can sell without an FFL?

I've seen a very cool coffin shaped case for a Thompson machine gun before.

I couldn't find the one I was looking for, but this one is cool.

That is pretty damn cool... I wonder where I could find somthing similar like that? I like the engraving on the gun also in that picture. I am actually looking into how to etch metal currently. I have a few ideas on how to do it without the harsh chemicles, but, it would be easier if I could get my hands on some. I want to take the finish off of a few of my guns and etch something into them, then just duracoat over it and presto, a custom finished and personalized gun! Or just chrome it, either or. I was thinking of taking my 1911 and having the slide lightened via top ports. Then if I could get this whole etching thing working, do some nice designs in the side. Then I would just have to choose a finish for it.

We have a guy on here who does engravings.

spyder
12-06-2010, 21:45
Is the guy good? Plus, it would just be cool to say that I made it that way. Of course if I come to find that I suck at etching, then, I will have to find someone to do it for me. Will just have to see how practice plates work out.

So, I tried the first way of etching that I thought of... Didn't exactly work out too well. It ate away my clamp, but not the metal in which I was trying to etch! Electrolysis is apparently not the way to go for me. Now to try to find some chemicles...

Hardware stores? Really? That is good to know, went all around town today to art stores, and hobby stores looking for the stuff with no luck. I was getting ready to order it online.

thanks yea im a night person haha i was looking at that mp5 kit you have i tried looking some stuff up on how to build and it seems you need LOTS of precision welding. nice gun but thats a lot of work

spyder
12-28-2010, 02:18
Ya, either a lot of welding, or $400 to have someone do all the work for you, either or. As for having another one, it is just not worth it to pay another $400. There is another guy on here who says he can give me all the info I need to do it, if he can, then I will keep the kit and make myself another one. Can't have too many guns right? [WooHoo]

kuench
12-28-2010, 02:25

Ah, I see "an AK mother fu*kin 47, for when you absolutely positively have to kill every mother f*cker in the room", well I think that is how the quote goes. Of all the guns I have owned, I don't think I have ever owned an AK, owned an SKS before but not an "AK". HHHMmmmm... [Tooth]

12-28-2010, 23:04
yep i'm an AKholic i want to own one or a copy from every country going on 3 so far not bad though for just starting.

Hey, I tried to do something like that also. Mine was with wifes though, I got one from Texas first, Colorado second, and after I found out how much those really cost (wifes) I decided to stick with my third from Iowa. She is a keeper though! [ROFL1]

looks like you really like CMMG's, I can't say too much seeing how mine is a CMMG also.
The top (.308) and bottom are CMMG stripped lowers only, but the middle is pretty much all CMMG, it's their piston M4LEP upper on another stripped lower that I built. The top is an LR308 upper from DPMS with the CMMG stripped lower and DPMS parts kit and stock. The bottom one is a bushy predator upper, ACE stock and Bill Springfield trigger/parts kit in it.

*Edit* Added a pic of my .22lr AR, it's all CMMG. The Sierra dedicated .22lr upper and a factory built CMMG lower with a few Magpul goodies added.
