Just picked up my lower from my FFL today. This is my first AR. I've enjoyed researching what I want and I can tell I might be headed down a slippery slope.

Here are the lower specs.

Rock River Arms National Match 2 stage trigger.
VLTOR EMod 6 position stock.
MagPul MOE grip.

Black Rain lower.
•100% CNC machined from a solid block of 7075 T6 billet aircraft grade aluminum.
• Flared magazine well
• Solid Winter trigger guard
• Milled 3-D logo
• Battle Grooves in opposing front
• MULTI CAL, Pictograph Fire/Safe and Full Auto Designation for L.E. and S.O.T. use.
• Made with a tough, tactical, appearance and finish, BLACK RAIN ORDNANCE, INC. uses hard coat grade III black anodizing with a Teflon impregnated finish.
Good thing it has that tactical appearance. [ROFL2]

I really like the integral trigger guard and the flared magwell.

Upper is next. Probably order that middle of next month. Going with a Bravo Company 16" mid length Recce with a Magpul MOE handguard.

Now for porn!

Sounds like you've got the makings of a very fine AR. Don't discount local shops like RAR when you start looking for your upper and accessories, and as he likes to say.. members get discounts!

Upper is going to be the 16" Reece from Bravo Company.

Already looking into doing another build with a 5.45 upper.

Bravo Company delivered my upper, handguard and charging handle yesterday. Just need to pick up the BCG and some ammo.

Attached a 5 slot Magpul rail section for my bipod.

Nice! I like Black Rain's stuff. My Grendel carbine has a Black Rain upper, it's nice. Next lower I get will probably be one of theirs.

for some of us its more like a free-fall.

VERY Nice rifle. The attention you put into it shows.

Looks good-no hammer tracks, vise grip marks etc.
Congrats

Thanks all. [Beer]

It needs just a couple tweaks until I'm satisfied. I'll probably order a BAD-ASS lever for it, I dunno why ambidextrous selectors aren't the standard yet.

I have one issue with the lower. The back of the trigger guard where the grip attaches protrudes slightly. I'll probably file off the sharp corner and touch it up with aluminum black. Might not be an issue with other grips but I only have the MOE to compare.

If I was in charge of the milling machine I would have rounded off some of the sharp edges a bit more.

Nice!

Ambi safety selectors are standard, for me. [Coffee]

How are your liking the Magpul handguard? I'm bouncing around getting one in carbine length.

I dig the handguard a lot. It's solid and works well with my hands. With all the slots you can add rails and other mounts as needed.

That's a jam up AR for your first. You seemed to follow my pop's advice "do it right the first time son."...lol!

You cant go wrong with BCM. They make a damn fine upper.
