Guys,

I've got one last receiver flat that I would like to build into a nice kit. Recommendations on supplier? Do you by chance have one that you would be willing to let go?

I would like a matching #'s kit with original barrel to minimize any headspacing headache.

Apex is pretty much out.

Thanks for your help!

Besides missing my rear trunion (which they made good on), my APEX kit was a nice set for a great price. And they're local in CO.

Hey there wolfie, I'm not sure what you'll find for original barrel 7.62 kits as about all that's around for those are over priced romy g's, setting headspace on a virgin barrel is not really that hard its more of a pain on a used barrel when needing to oversize drill the barrel pin (that's where friends with a mill come in handy)

As fair as nice primo kit's I'd advise either an apex matching numbers east german mpi-km72 akm with a virgin romanian barrel (if they still have the barrels). Or one of copes distributing's tula soviet akm kits with one of apex's virgin romy barrels.

The east german akm's were blued rifles and very nice looking rifles, both will have a nicer fit and finish than an average romy and be something a little different than a run of the mill romy g (nothing against romy g's though)

Also about headspacing there's enough guys here that you could get together with for a build party so I wouldn't let that turn me away from a build if it were me, just my thoughts, by the way are you the same wolfie or whatever from gunco that I met at a build party in denver almost a year ago?

I am indeed!

Thanks jreifsch80; I'll check out Copes and re-look at Apex.

I'm really pleased with the Romy-G we built last year. Flawless operation and great accuracy. I just don't like seeing that receiver just sit around.

Good to see you around,

I've heard those apex barrel-less matching east german kits are very nice same about the copes tula akm's.

I'm very pleased with my g I built there too very acurate (for what it is) and has run like a sewing machine from day one. I still need to blast and phosphate it as the receiver still has it's original bbq grill paint finish haha. Though I only have about 500 rounds down the pipe.

If barreled romy g's were still in the 200 range I'd advise that but with original barrel g's around 300 it makes it more apealing to spend a little more for something a little more pleasing to the eye and interesting., or if you want to get wild have you ever thought about a blowback ak in 9mm or 7.62x25?
