Tom and Joe's Firearms
12627 West 32nd Avenue
Wheat Ridge, CO 80033

I stopped by Tom and Joe's for the first time a few days ago. It seems that I showed up at a bad time though. The sign on the door said that they would be closed for about 10 days due to surgery. I conclude from that sign that Tom and Joe's is a sole proprietorship and the owner has no employees. I guess I found it a bit strange that there was nobody to watch the shop while the owner underwent surgery.

I've heard a few things about the shop. I've heard that its VERY small (I looked in the window to confirm this) and the prices are good. Some people say that the owner has a bad attitude but that opinion varies from person to person. Others say that he's a great guy.

I'll do a more thorough review when I get time to drop by again.

I bought my AR here, when I picked it up the Guy was as nice as could be . Even showing how to field strip it. I went in a couple of month's later, He had a couple of other guy's in there and acted as if I didn't count for anything. I haven't been back. It was the same Guy. [cussing]

Tom is a 1 man operation since his father passed away awhile back. He does have great prices, and can be a little crabby at times. He has had health issues and I know that is not a reason to give bad service. The best time to catch him in a great mood is Monday morning, you usually can get screaming deals on the guns he's traded over the weekend. He only works alone to keep his overhead at a very low price. Tom's ok in my book. I've been buying from him since 1991, when he was selling out his bedroom in his parents house.

I like Tom and Joes. Bought a couple handguns from him. I don't think you can beat the prices. One experience I had with him, I called him and asked him if he had a stainless steel Kimber in stock. He said yes I have only 1 left. I told him I was on my way. An hour later I finally arrived, and told him what I was after. He told me he had a couple buyers, but held it for me. Yes the store is cramped, but he will get more of my business.

This is my favorite FFL. Great deals on used guns, 10% consignments, and if you are willing to wait a week, he can get almost anything in.

I just got a Springfield XD from him last week, very good price compared to any other shop.

I have been doing business with Tom since the early 1990's when he was working out of his home. Tom is good people. As far as being crabby goes, we all have our days. He's a former marine and a gun guy. He's been doing this a long time and is wanting to make a career change. But if you need anything firearm related he will order it for you. I was in there last week and I watched him work for atleast 30 minutes with a guy on a complete field strip of a national match M1A showing him all the little armorers tricks for disassembly and reassembly. The prices are good and consequently there may not be alot of guns on the shelf at any given time, but he gets frequent shipments and lots of special orders.

I don't agree with everything he says, but I respect his right to have an opinion and an ocassional bad day. I have purchased not less than 6 or 8 firearms and a host of accessories and parts and will continue to do so until he is successful in making a career change.

Just my $.02

When it comes to guns the big stores don't carry or you are patient and want to order a gun Tom is your guy. When I was looking for my 22-250 Savage Gouger Mountian wanted $675 I called Joe and ordered the same model for $550. He's one of the few "little" guys left and when it comes time for my next gun purchase i'm calling Joe first. A couple of years ago he told he would stay in business until Cabelas opens across the highway and force him to close but who knows when that will be.

Found these guys thanks to Phanatic.
Tom and Rock make my day whenever I go in to see what they have. My first time in was not that great either. But after going in a few more times just learned to take em with a grain of salt. Very knowledgeable and some of the best deals around.

I got an AR lower there in April. Tom was helpful and patient with my dumb questions. I think it is hard when they more than 1 or 2 customers because the shop is small, plus they have lots of regulars, and you know how the regulars will chew your ear. The other guy working there "Rock" was very nice to me too. Great Prices for a local shop. I plan on going back often.

Tom's was where I went for everything until election week. My stripped lower went from $92 on a Thursday up to $150 on the following Wednesday and when I questioned him his reply was pretty much "take it or someone else will". Haven't gone back since.

The place was reccommeneded from a friend. The place is small, but there are also busy. Tom helped me buy my first AR15. Thank you. He explained a lot to me that I didn't know. Be aware! Thase guys can talk! If you are in a hurry come back another day. It will be worth it though, because they have the best prices.

I bought a Stag Arms AR stripped lower there a couple years ago. They were a bit busy when I went in there, but Tom was still able to recognize me as a customer as he was on hold with CBI for a background check. I pointed out what I wanted and he advised me on the wait, so I went and got some coffee. Came back about 30-minutes later, background check complete, paid cash and out the door with no hassles. A good friend of mine had a firearm ordered through Tom and also had a great experience. I will gladly do business with him again.

As for some people concerned about them having a crabby attitude...well, we have all had our days. At least they don't treat you like Gunsmoke, LOL. [LOL]

I've bought to AR15 lowers and had two shipped to Tom and Joes. His customer service is real hit or miss. I've had times were he seemed very interested in helping me, and other times were he couldn't care less that I was in the store. As others have mentioned, I think it has to do with how busy he is.

Tom and Joe's - Best in town. Low overhead = low prices.

Surgery went well - lost a lung - have a bit of compassion.
