View Full Version : NRA Life Membership $300

Full disclosure: I am a NRA Benefactor Life Member

I don't want to turn this into a "NRA Sucks" thread, or a "my gun-rights organization is better than your gun-rights organization" thread.

If you're not interested, just let it go at that. Some people like the NRA, some don't, some (like me) join as many as possible.

At any rate:

The NRA has again offered me (not just me...I, like many other life members, received this offer in the mail today) the chance to sign up friends/family for a life member ship for $300 or a yearly membership for $19. The normal membership fees are:

Life = $1000
Annual = $35***I don't receive anything from the NRA for doing this...nothing, zip, zero***

If you are interested and would like to take advantage of this offer here's what you need to do. PM me with the following information:
Full name (as you want it reflected on your membership)
Mailing address
Phone number
Email Address
Date of Birth (This is new...it doesn't say if it's required or optional)
Membership choice (Life or Annual)
Magazine choice (American Hunter, American Rifleman, America's First Freedom)If you don't feel comfortable sending that in a PM, call me at 7203848178. This is the information required on the form.

I'll PM you the address where you can mail me a check or money order in the appropriate amount.

All checks/money orders should be made payable to NRA...not to me.

I did this once before on CO-AR15.com and a couple of times on THR and the response was great! (Here's the current THR thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=556211) NRA has limited this offer to 20 people and I've always had at least that many respond. The cutoff date is 01/15/2011 so I need everything at least 1 week before that.

I'll fill out all the paperwork and forward the package, minimum of 4 membership applications at a time, to NRA. I'll pick up the postage so there's no need to worry about that.

Might make a nice Christmas present, too.

In the past, response times from NRA have been as quick as one week to as long as 8 weeks. They typically are deluged with applicants and some take longer than others.

***NO! I don't receive any sort of payment, gift, pat on the back, attaboy, kudo or anything else from the NRA for this. As a matter of fact, it's kind of a PITA to keep everything straight.***

Good deal, wish I had the money right now. I'm only a year by year member

I'm a Life Member as well and I'll start looking for the deal in my mailbox. I passed up on it last year for my son but I'm not going to pass it up for him again.

If I don't see something in the next week or so I'll be getting him hooked up through you (so long as you haven't reached your 20 member limit...which I'm guessing that they'd waive if asked).

Whether I do it directly or go through you, I wanted to say THANK YOU for doing this.

That is a scorchin deal! It's about what I paid 25 years ago.

While I don't support in some ideas or backings that the NRA does, I still feel it's a valuable organization. With that said, I've already signed up 6 "family members" with my recent life activation!

We're moving right along towards the goal of 20 new life members. If you've ever wanted to get a life membership, this is the time.

Thanks to all those who've responded.

Since I just signed up for two more I hope you can offer this next year. I will save up and hope it comes up again. ;)

They shouldn't do it at Christmas time when all my money is spoken for. Oh, well.... back to monthly dues.

Yeah...I wonder about the timing. Always the end of the year. Must be some sort of corporate bookkeeping thing.

A couple of folks have asked about what they can do if they're already an annual member. Not a problem.

Just send the information requested from the original post along with a check for $300 made out to NRA. In addition, add your member ID number and I'll make a note of it on your application. NRA will just upgrade your member status to "Life".

Unfortunately, you won't be prorated for the remainder of your annual membership but it's still a bargain.

My wife and I were just talking about that. Christmas-time is not the smartest time to be doing this (unless they're counting on folks giving Lifetime memberships out as Christmas presents).

I got my package to perform my annual card re-activiation in the mail on Friday and it had the "sign up family members for $300 for life or $19 for one year" in it too. This is what I've been waiting for since Carl posted the OP. We're going to sign my son up for one of these right after the 1st of the year.

If Carl fills up his 20 slots and there are still more interested, I'd be willing to do this as well - so long as folks get me their info and money by about January 7th. We'll discuss this further if/when Carl reaches the 20 member mark.

FYI...I'm about halfway there, give or take a spot.

Reminder: We're almost at the cutoff date. If you're going to mail me your payment, please do so right away and let me know. I'm ready to send this stuff out.

I've received the last check I was waiting for.

If you've sent me a check, your application has been sent. I spoke with the NRA membership folks and they're a bit overwhelmed at this time due to the response. So I was told not to be surprised if the processing of the applications takes a bit longer than expected.

Thanks to all who signed up either for a life or annual membership.

Carl - thanks again for doing this. I'm sure that those who took advntage of your offer are quite pleased.

I haven't told my son yet (and even though he's a member here, I know he won't read this thread), but I got him all signed up for this as well. I'll let Life Member items surprise him when it comes in the mail.

I just wish I had become a Life Member at almost 19 years old like my son and not when I had turned 42/43.
