I've seen a .300 Win Mag Barrel after someone did the same thing. Fortunately the dude that shot it was okay, but the gun was totaled. Be careful!

That "major event" is going to make me alot more skittish and heads-up at the gun range.
Also, the blown rifle would make a good mount in a range house, or in a gunshop with a gunsmith working there.
