...in 1941 the attack at Pearl Harbor commenced. If you've never been there in person you should try to put it on your bucket list. The solemnity of the atmosphere, even to this day it quite touching.

If you see any military personell, whether a vet/AD/Reservist, please thank them for the sacrifices and service they provide everyday.

To all those personell on this board, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your courage and honor of standing up for our freedoms and fighting on my behalf.

[Marine][Salute] Salute!

May we never forget.
May we ever stay vigilant.

Unfortunately as we lose our Greatest Generation we are losing our history. It is sad to see Pearl Harbor Day replaced by Islamic New Year on a calendar.

Thank a Vet- we could easily be speaking in a different tongue if it was not for them, regardless of conflict.

Thank You

A little OT - I was listening to Peter Boyles this morning, he is a prodigious reader, he said the Axis had this country divided at the Mississippi River. I was born here in Colorado so all things considered I would be speaking Japanese today.

Reminds me of this

If you can read, thank a teacher, if you are reading in English, thank a soldier

Please take a moment of silence to remember those lost to the cowardly and unprovoked attack 69 years ago today by the Empire of Japan against the United States at Pearl Harbor, HI.

This attack hurled the United States into World War II.

Here is a breakdown of the lives lost in that attack:
US Navy: 2,008 KIA
USMC: 109 KIA
US Army: 218 KIA
Civilians: 68
Total: 2,403

Close to 2/3 of those who died occurred in the first 15 minutes of the battle when the Oklahoma, Utah and the Arizona were bombed.

In addition
55 Japanese died, in addition to an unknown number of Japanese wounded.

The US had 1,178 personnel wounded.

it was a horrible attack, but we paid them back in spades.

I disagree as there are still "Japanese" walking the Earth... but I guess there has to be mercy somewhere.

Either way, rest in peace ALL warriors.
