Well, being open enrollment time again for insurance, my wife was just informed by her employer that our family's health insurance in 2011 will be 240% of what is was in 2010 for the exact same coverage!!!! Fuck you Obama and fuck you dems that rammed that bullshit through. And fuck you Colorado for electing the same asshats again. You fuckers screwed EVERYONE. The health insurance companies are already getting ready to pad the bank accounts in order to afford all the extra bullshit and extra non-paying government mooches that Obamacare will now require. So my family of 3 will be paying $5k more in 2011 for the same health/dental/vision insurance. Not total...$5 fucking thousand MORE!!!! All well our employers tell us there is no increase in cost of living so there will be no raises this year even if they had a record year. This country has gone to major shit and I hope all the dipshits responsible that think Obamacare is a good thing for America drop fucking dead.

Naw the obamucare will keep them on life support.
Definitely 8/10. Could've used a little more name calling and blaming and a little less proper semtax and punctuation.
I do feel for you. I can't afford insurance now... regardless of what fun will come to fruitition by the 2014 deadline.

$450 a month here... and I thought I really got screwed! Sorry to hear that man. 2012 will be the very first time I will be real active volunteering etc to kick this bozo out of the office.

Plain and simple...if you voted for the democrats you are the enemy.
I'm ready to say fuck it and not pay for health insurance and tell them my name is ramon and everything I go in for is an emergency then bail out when I get better.

What ever it is now, I am sure it is going to get much worse in the next couple years when they slowly adjust their rates according to their losses. I will have to see how much my family's rates went up.
And the word for today is:

Yeah, and this is not some mom-and-pop shop either. They have 150+ employees. I forgot to mention, we can choose the cheaper plan they now offer, only about $4k/year more then we pay now, but the coverage is about 1/3rd of the coverage we have now. Now isn't that nice of them to give us a special deal. Fuckers.
This was a very good plan with United Health Care which has been great for us while we had a baby and my wife had surgery among other things...but damn, so much for buying great insurance for our family. We'll now have to get the cheap ass insurance from my employer that doesn't cover shit.
The US Government - making sure hard working Americans take it in the ass.

This is truly insane. My mind can't comprehend how the people in this country got so dumb. Even while other countries like England are jumping off the sinking socialist ship by now making their kids actually pay for an education for example, we in America continue to climb aboard no matter how many people tell us we're going to drown.

I have heard more statements similar to this than I care to count. I understand why too. I believe the "fine/tax" for not having health coverage is around 800.00. You can still go to a hospital if sick or such. Why would one spend 5K annually if basically healthy for insurance when you could just pay the "fine/tax"?
As far as the big FU to anybody who supported Oblunder, Udall, Bennet and such I concur and also say thanks.
As for the rant I am giving it a 9 out of 10.
Context and articulation was good, with a brazen dash of profanity adding tastefully to the delivery.[Beer]

Yup, that's the way to go. And if you get really sick just enroll and pay for insurance until you get better. Then drop out.
Our insurance is going UP $5,000 so we will be paying about $8,000 out-of-pocket per year in 2011 for a family of 3...that's after the employer contribution. We are paying about $3,000 now for the exact same coverage. The employer is paying the same amount as their contribution next year, but the employees are responsible for 100% of the 2011 cost increase.
I'll take that $800 fine any day over that.

A government mandates that it's citizens purchase a service. The ensuing regulations and kickbacks cause any private carriers of said service to dramatically raise its rates to where many can no longer afford it. This causes those that cannot afford it to rely on the above named government for said service.

^^^THIS, a good friend of mine is a LEGAL immigrant from "across the pond", and back when Obummer first started up with his "health care reform" talk, my friend was more passionately against it, than anyone else I spoke with about the topic. Not to stray from bashing O and the Dems, but it is absolutely crazy how much the cost of insurance rises when you go from Single to couple to family. I only pay for coverage for myself, but some of my co-workers who have spouses and kids pay WAY more than I do. Almost makes a person not want to get married or have kids.

So what do we do when it gets repealed and the insurance companies maintain the rates "because they can", poor legislation that gave an excuse for greed.

Reviving a zombie thread because it's health insurance enrollment time again.
New employer since the OP. Much bigger company. But guess what, my 2013 health insurance premiums went up again. $1,300 more than the same insurance for 2012. Not only that, out-of-pocket maximums and deductibles went up too.
And pre-tax FSA maximum contributions have been reduced. (What's that you say? Obama told us no tax increases for the middle class?) Well, we use our FSA so that decrease in the pre-tax contributions is basically a $400 tax increase on my family.
Since ObamaCare passed, my insurance premiums have gone up about $7,300. They rarely went up by much each year before that.
Luckily this time my employer is covering about 75% of the premium increase unlike the increases from 2010 to 11 and 2011 to 12 which hit me directly. We'll still get hit with the increased deductibles, etc.
So consider this a big THANK YOU Obama for lowering health care costs in our country! It's sure helping my family.
Can't wait until you are gone at the end of the year.

I sure hope Mitt follows through on day 1 with starting the repeal of obamacare.
Honestly, I don't think the coverage is going to get better AND the premiums will go down....the insurance companies are getting their money, they got people and companies by the nuts. The thing we can hope for is relaxed regulations and laws creating more competition and lower prices.
FUBO.

10-26-2012, 16:36
Nope, insurance costs won't go down with a repeal. The damage is done. All I can hope for is that they increase pre-tax health care savings to offset some of the out-of-pocket costs.
No kidding. My employer is about as generous as they come, and they're covering 75% of our premiums as well. After another year working here, they'll cover 90% for me, but that only comes from being with the company for so long. Regardless of their generosity, I still have to pay $140.50 per month. That means my actual premiums are $562 per month, up from $96 per month in 2006, when I moved to CO. Granted my insurance company and policy has changed since then, my copays, out of pocket maximums, and the things that I actually remember, are all the same. This is ridiculous.
DAMN!! this free healthcare sure costs alot.[Tooth]

Just a footnote to this. If you think just because some of us work for the fed that it has been all rosy guess again. Last two years. Pay frozen and my part of the premium has gone up by $140 per month not to mention all the price hikes on the co-pays.

That is hardcore F'ing insane. The only thing obamacare does is guarantee that the insurance companies get richer. Not even the doctors will see much profit out of it, if they don't lose money in fact. Fucking cartels.
Remember that a lot of money going to insurance companies are tied up in reserves the whole time. It's not like the insurance money is only paying out the equivalent of 2% of the premiums they collect like people think.

Unsure of premium changes at this time.

Wait till that first paycheck in JAN when the BUSH era tax rates (note its a rate - not a tax cut, the fact the Dems love to point out is that it is lower than the prior rate, but that is irrelevant) will be upgraded to Obama budget rates. Add to that there will be several new Obamma Care related taxes that start.
Keep in mind the election won't change this - Congress will have to act to remedy this and the new Congress won't be seated until nearly FEB - then a bill will need to be drafted, passed, forwarded to the Senate... Conference comitties etc.
If Romney is elected we will see the immediate Blame Romney mantra that was used on Bush. [Rant1]

Precisely. Rates went up only weeks after ObamaCare was passed because the insurance companies need to pad the bank to pay for the expected/unexpected consequences of the law. I have no delusions about that.
Oh, and also, I have to pay an extra $750/year just because we choose to put my wife on my insurance rather than her work's crappy insurance. Employees's who's spouses don't work/have an option for their own insurance, don't pay the $750.
I pay $750 more for the exact same insurance than a coworker who's spouse doesn't work. Discrimination? Perhaps...

Forget it. If you have to teach someone over the age of 10 how to tie a slip knot, they wouldn't last long anyways. Don't give them piece of good rope. That stuff can be invaluable when needed.
