I hadn't heard about this until today. Apparently, during a speech in Indonesia last month, Obama told the audience the national motto of the United States is "E pluribus unum".
In fact, our national motto is "In God We Trust", approved as the official motto by congress in 1956.
It never stops with this guy.

Oh god no, not a misquote! Same reason I won't jump on Sarah Palin for mis-saying "our North Korean allies", or G.H. Bush mis-stating the date for Pearl Harbor. Clinton had plenty, and Bush got tounge tied constantly. It's not easy to stand and talk without eventually making a mistake. They're only human.

This guy is the president of the United States. He has speech writers. He has people who check the speech writers. He's supposed to be some big-shot constitutional scholar and attorney. He's supposed to know about these things...or at a minimum, have people working for him that know these things. This is not the same as being questioned in an impromptu interview where he might make a simple mistake...like Palin saying, "Our N Korean allies," and immediately correcting herself, in a conversation where "N Korea" and "S Korea" are being used in a rapid back and forth.
This is not misspeaking. This is getting the motto of the country of which he is president, wrong. It's akin to saying the nation's capital is NYC, not in an impromptu, unprepared speech, but a prepared speech. From written text.
No...he fucked up. Plain and simple.
I think he did it on purpose to undermind the people of the US and because he didn't want to say it in front of his jihadist buddies
+1, his slips of the tongue are a sly foxes way of letting the World know he doesn't give as shit about This Country.

His statements are not mistakes. It is an attempt to change our history.
Our history as a nation stands in the way of the Progressive agenda.
Our history is dangerous to them.
His Wench said it publicly before the election: "Barack needs to change history to change America" or similar.

I say, Right On Obama, on saying e pluribus unum; and to hell with the U.S. Congress of 1956 for passing In God We Trust as our national motto.
The motto is opposed for a variety of reasons.
I have consitutional objections to the latest motto, as I'm sure Pres. Obama does to. What in god's tarnation is the U.S. talking about? If it is any god of this forum, then I hope to god it is not one of mine!
If Obama had the stupidity of saying "in god we trust' in a major muslim nation like Indonesia, it would probably have caused major riots, and major recruement sucesses for Al Qeada.
"E pluribus unum" refers to the fact that the United States was formed as a cohesive single nation as a result of the thirteen smaller colonies joining together which was the de facto motto of the U.S. until 1956. Pres. Obama likened it to the Indonesian motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika"-Unity in Diversity on Nov. 10, 2010.
And I want to congraulate President Obama on him giving a excellent speech in Indonesia.

Hey ERNO, are you making it your personal mission to piss off everyone on this site and get yourself eventually banned?
While everyone is entitled to voice their opinions, you seem to go out of your way to pick the polar opposite and most offensive stance to support.
You should really consider that this site is composed of primarily like-minded individuals with similar interests and goals. The concept of "know your audience" never seems to come into play with any of your posts.
Perhaps I'd think differently of you if you ever posted anything in any of the various forums/threads that actually had anything to do with AR-15's or any other firearms and not just contradictory posts relating to general discussion items.
If you're here to participate in pro-firearm discussion with at least a side interest in AR-15's, then show us. Otherwise, I suspect (as most site members do as well) that you are nothing more than an anti-gun plant with membership here just to stir things up and cause trouble.
Think about what I've said. While I can't speak for the other mods and site managers, I'm sure your membership here is on particualrly thin ice.
Until our national congress passes a new motto, it is "In God We Trust".

SO ................ Just change the motto to suit his opinions? I don't think we should have laws against concealed carry without a permit.... but guess what'll happen if I do it anyways... By LAW the motto is " In God We Trust".
oh and change it to keep the terrorists happy ??? Really?? Seriously go fuck yourself. you and the terrorists.

So Ginsue, my take is that you have only looked at the general dicussion forum's and not any of the forums on this website; unless they have been erased. Look up all my post's if you have the guts too.
I'm a pro-gunner democrat, but I will not stand down and cower like a dog when some people continue to trash our President of the United States of America; even though they have the right to.

I'm a pro-gunner democrat,
There's no such thing. You can't possibly be pro-gun if you voted for:
Obama
Michael Bennett
Mark Udall
ad nauseum
but I will not stand down and cower like a dog when some people continue to trash our President of the United States of America; even though they have the right to.
I guess I'll just have to assume that was your policy during the Bush administration as well.

Darn Erno, you should stand up for this Country, its basic fundamental and value. Not for a politician - whether that's Clinton, Bush Jr., or Obama.

Well,, I have.. Sure, you contribute here and there. although it isn't as "positive" as you think it is..
"Pro-gun democrat" That a little like "Rock against drugs."? Makes no sense to me. You must consider FDR a godlike entity..
Obama??, give me a break, at least Clinton could communicate without a teleprompter. That guy is so far over his head, it's pitiful.. The only reason he got anywhere in life was because of affirmitive action and the quota system. He is now getting exposed for the fool he is, and you can't stand it.. Sad to say, He is making Carter look like a strong leader..
Personally, the only reason I keep you around is, The boys seem to enjoy tormenting you so much..
Though, I must admit, even that is wearing a little thin..

ERNO has described himself as a socialist-capitalist...whatever the hell that is. I guess that would explain why he thinks he's "pro-gun". [Whacko]

So, Erno, you like the idea that a sitting president should just be able to change whatever he wants, and be inaccurate as he wants, at will? Or, as I suspect, is it just if it happens to be a president that you like? The bottom line here is, he was inaccurate. His idiot speechwriters should have written it differently (and accurately) and then there would not have been an accuracy issue with what he said. You're just a pot-stirring pain in the backside, with comparatively little real contribution to the shooting side of this site that I've seen (and I have seen most of your posts) and I believe Ginsue has a valid point. Hoosier has opinions that sometimes seem contrary, but he doesn't just go looking to be a pain (at least that I've seen) and looking to be contrary. On the positive side, you do provide opportunity, and for that I thank you.
And I'm reminded of all the more socialist minded people who loudly proclaimed that George Bush wasn't THEIR president, like that idiot Dixie Chick, Natalie Mains (haven't heard much from her since then. Hm.) and I'm curious if you were one of those, while you sit there defending Obama. Or did you defend Bush the same way you're defending Obama, which would be the only way you're not making yourself a hypocrite with your own words.
Besides, I'M supposed to be the one causing trouble here. So, IN GOD WE TRUST. And if you don't like OUR OFFICIAL NATIONAL MOTTO, feel free to write your congressman. Besides, the PC police/socialists/lefty democrats are doing their best to destroy the concept of E Pluribus Unum by making sure that the many don't ever become the one. Because when you let immigrants retain their own language and try to force the citizens of our nation to adapt to them, you're destroying a big part of what originally made this country so great. But in my opinion, that's by design.
Here's my favorite drawing of Obama, Biden, and Reid - [Stooge]
ERNO doesn't even live in Colorado. So he should have no say in our state politics.

On what constitutional grounds would that be? It's not establishment of a state religion. God means the same thing to people of various religions.
If Obama had the stupidity of saying "in god we trust' in a major muslim nation like Indonesia, it would probably have caused major riots, and major recruement sucesses for Al Qeada.
More proof Muslims are the religion of peace? You know, many Muslims (and others) believe God is God. Whether you're a Christian or a Muslim. So why would that offend them?
And I want to congraulate President Obama on him giving a excellent speech in Indonesia.
No wonder you like him so much. You're both fools.
