Some time ago, someone did a thread about what our usernames meant or where we got them. We've had a ton of new members since then, so how bout it, all you new(er) folks? Where'd you get it, what's it mean, anything special about it? Some are self-explanatory (RARGuns comes to mind....) but most aren't, so ante up!
ADD - Ok, since I started this and others like Ginsue (Pardon me, I meant THE Ginsue) are tossing theirs in I'll do the same.
Troubl - short for Trouble, of course. This was hung on me by a former girlfriend (for reasons we won't discuss here....) and my friends made it stick.
Co - Colorado, since I found Trouble was already used most of the time. But I have the nametag to prove it...

So that's what that stands for. I've always wondered. Kewl
So I'll tell mine again too.
"the" because (I'm told by those who dubbed me with it and continued to ensure it stuck) it's a title like "the President", and not a nickname.
"Ginsue" because it's similar to my last name and while working as a Sys Admin @ US Space Command I used to always carry a leatherman on one hip and a knife on the other.

All the women love MAZIN MEAT!
It actually came from a shooting contest spured by a guy next to me in the range about 7 years ago. He had a thick accent and when all was done he said "tat wad som mazin shootin". It just stuck and I have used MAZIN in everything from Forums to BF1942 and other games as well. Thought about custom plates but thats too flashy.
soco11 because after a lifetime of living in Minnesota and owning a ranch out of Trinidad, we are intending to stop traveling back and forth and move down permanently in 2011 and get rid of the Minnesota house if things go as planned. I am hoping to be strictly a southern coloradean in 2011!

I's 'jes a ugly ol'dog named Ron.....
Mine is from being a kid playing paintball in combination with my nickname from my buddies dad when he saw me shoot my 10/22 and ruger MKII for the first time.
I was never fast at paintball, but my best friend was, so I would hide, be sneaky and could snipe like a champ.
His dad, when he watched me shoot also called me a "damn sniper".
The 7 is my favorite number, and also the number of my and my dads favorite baseball player of all time: Mickey Mantle from the New York Yankees.
The name has also been used by me on several online games etc etc.
If I had to ever pick another name it would be my new nickname: Iceman.
Given to me by my best friends dad again, only after he has taken me and watched me shoot elk during muzzleloader season. 3 shots. 3 elk. He has taken people on hundreds of hunts and said he has never seen anyone so calm and focused and not shaky when taking a big game animal.
I also like it because of my favorite movie: Top Gun[Tooth]
You can probably guess-
If you can't maybe you should not own a firearm[Muaha]

So you're the V? That's pretty cool. I'm the third myself. Do you have the same middle name as your father and grandfathers?
If I could change my screen name again, I'd change it to Irving. Marlin started it and THE Ginsue and TroublCo jumped on board. Plus, I realized shortly after that Marlin and I live very near to Irving st. Right now, one of my jobs is on Stuart St.
Sharpienads
12-11-2010, 23:40
My last name is Sharp, and one of my old TACP buddies started calling me Sharpienads one day. It stuck, and I ran with with it because I've been called a lot worse.
So you're the V? That's pretty cool. I'm the third myself. Do you have the same middle name as your father and grandfathers?
No, all different middle names, thank god. It was hard enough growing up trying to figure out whose mail/phone calls were whose.
We all have the same middle name, especially since my parents went to court and had it changed to match after a few years so I could be the III. I never had my birth certificate though, so my driver's license is different than all my other documents (because it is based on my birth certificate). It wasn't actually a problem, and not a single person ever noticed it, until about 2 or 3 years ago. Earlier this year I was denied from giving donating plasma because my S.S. card didn't exactly match my driver's license. I couldn't believe that I've traveled internationally and gotten my passport (after September 11th even), voted, and bought guns without anyone noticing, or if they did, not caring; but the lady at the plasma place, full of people that looked like a sample set from an inner city bus stop, was giving me a hard time about it. My parents told me I could change my name to whatever I want after I turned 18, but by that point, why bother?
My grandpa just calls me "Number 3," and of all the nick names I've ever had, I like that one the best. The other day he told me he was going to start calling me "Tres" like Spanish for 3, since I've been trying to learn Spanish. I told him "no thanks" because it sounds too close to Tracy for me. Sorry Tracy Morgan, and any other Tracy's on the board. ERNO is Tracy Morgan if anyone else didn't know.

I was thinking more along the lines of Wanda Sykes....

My son and I at VDR (Berthoud). I knocked him off his bike at the starting gate, and he caught me in the 3rd corner on the landing of this 80' step-down. He's fast, I'm old and sneaky. He then knocked me over in the next corner about 3 seconds after the pic was taken. He's 16, I'm 33...

two shoes
12-14-2010, 11:03
Used to drink a bit when I was in the Navy. I was stationed in a small town in Nevada. I had 3-4 pair of the Converse Chuck Taylor high tops. I had gone out the night before on a pretty big bender and put on a "pair" of shoes in dark the next morning.
I had gone out to the R/C plane flying site to go fly. One of the guys there said "Hey, you have two different shoes on!" My reply was "Ya, I must have a pair just like them back at the barraks too" So two shoes has stuck ever since. 20 years next month.
I moved back to that town and lived there for a couple of years. The nickname is so attached to me that my doctor called in a prescription to the pharmacy under "two shoes" as he couldn't remember my real name. Most people in that town still do not know what my given name is.

P.S.On other boards, I go by "Lunyfringe"... for some reason I didn't think that would fly here, and departed from that... paranoia at the time, I guess.
it's short for "Lunatic Fringe", and is a commentary on how the "sheeple" view those of us that hold our 2nd amendment rights close to our hearts.
