North Meeting place; ITT Tech Center, 84th and Grant Turn East on 84th Ave. from I-25 Go to the first light, that is Grant Ave. Right on the Corner is an abandoned Firestone Dealership. That is the place.
Or, if You prefer to just drive directly there,I-25 to 66, Go West on 66 through Lyons to the point that it changes to 7 This is where it gets hard to explain  . Drive to the Call Box  Don't worry You won't miss it If You do, go to where 7 and 72 meet, then go back 200 yrds. the area is directly across the road and up and over the hill from the Call Box.
South. The McDonald's in Woodland Park is where We meet at. I-25 to 24 turn west towards WP. once in WP at the second light You will see the McDonald's on the Right side of the road. In the Back is a RV parking lot dierctly across from the Sonic. We meet there and head up the hill.

I dunno Karl that well yet but it sounds like fun!!!!
I've heard they go out and shoot guns. That scares me of course, so I don't do it.
Well, I've done it twice, but that was a long time ago, before the last baby, and the second job. But someday, I'll find out if my guns really work or not.
The making fun of Karl is dangerous, but then again, Marlin laughs at danger.

Meeting Place north: It at ITT Tech, right? The address for ITT Tech is
500 East 84th Avenue Thornton, CO 80229-5338
What time do we meet there on Dec 10?
Yep, That would be the one. Be there by 10:00A.M. and all will be good. :D
is the time 10:00am for the south shoot also on 1/21/06?
Yep, 10:00 A.M. is our general start time. However, when We go to WP, We set meet times at the other meeting spots to get down to WP by 10:00.
If You're meeting Me at the CR McD's We need to leave there by about 8:30-8:40 to make it down there.
Updated the waypoint for the north trail head in my post above.

Go west on 66 to lyons, follow it through town and turn left on hwy 7.
Go up into the mountains 13 or 14 miles till you see a callbox, near the junction to 72.
The callbox is on the left side of the road, park on the right side where the signs are.
Walk over the little hill and have fun shooting!

Here's a copy of Karl's directions to the south shooting site:
Go north from Woodland Park on C67 (Colorado State Highway 67).
Look for Rainbow Falls turn off on the right. That's just north of the Teller/Douglas county line.
Look for the MP88 (Mile Post marker 88, the little green signs on the side of the road) then go about 1/2 mile past that.
It will be a little dirt road on the left. It is very easy to miss so go kinda slow and watch carefully.
After leaving the paved road, go up about 200 yards, go to the right side of the fork in the road, about another 200 yards and there it is on the right.

Are these private areas or can anybody show up to use them?
Yes they are public lands, at least for the time being.

Searching for weather info for the north shoot location & I found there's someone in nearby Allenspark that maintains a webcam & an online weather station:
This is about 2 miles northeast of the shoot site.

This is where we meet at 9:30 - 10:00AM

According to my map program it's about 180miles from there to here. You are very welcome to come, but I just didn't know if a day of shooting is worth the trip to you. Of course on the other hand, the world's finest firearm will be present for your shooting pleasure (UZI of course  )... Just bring some factory 9mm and you can shoot it as much as you want... And there's always a nice selection of other cool toys to drool over... and coming from Kali you probably haven't had too many chances to play with full auto and suppressed weapons much so.......
It's about a 3.5 hour drive so you'd have a long haul. I'll PM you my home number so if you get into Woodland and need help, call... DO NOT come all this way and forget the number or wait too late to call. Karl.

was at the south location today, did not shoot at the spot listed, we went all the way in the back with trucks. Most of the snow was melted until deep into the trail. Got almost stuck and failed to make it up a hill in my 4runner.

The weather was so nice yesterday I went looking for the north shooting area for the first time. It was easy to find with several cars marking the spot by the time we got there. Next time I'll try to find the south area.

Easy to find but no matter how often I go there it still seems like I've gone too far into the mountains before I get there.
I was up there yesterday and it was busy. 10 or 15 people coming and going while I was there. Now if I only hadn't forgotten my laser boresighter at home.

Would someone please give me directions to the North shoot location, as well as start time? I see the [N40 10.002 W105 27.509 8092 ft] listing for it, but I was only able to determine that it is somewhere around Hwys 72 and 7.
Thanks a bunch! Most appreciated.
About 200 yrds east of 72 on 7, there is a emergency call box. The area is directly across the road from that. You might need to call and see if that one is open before you go though.. It has been closed on and off the past year.

Marlin, are there no regular shoot dates with the CO AR-15 Shooters Club? I'm confuzzeled. No designated days to meet each month at designated locations and designated times?

I believe the "North" site has been closed to shooting by the USFS.
The "South" site is still valid - for now, but those who feel the need to leave their garbage behind or shoot up the trees are doing their best to get it shut down as well.

Pawnee is open for now. I would call before you drive any distance to go there.

I would be happy to host/plan a meet up in grand junction. We have a lot of BLM land out here. There are two designated ranges. But it being BLM land you can target shoot just about anywhere on th BLM land. Here is a link to the area. http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/fo/gjfo/recreation/shooting/grand_valley_shooting.html

More than a few faces I have not seen in a while.
I know a lot of you are front rangers, but this would be a heck of a place for a meet up. It’s Cameo, I’m still in shock we got this from the state.
