I am wanting to pick up an AR this weekend in the $900 or less range. I see sportsmans has the M&P ORC on sale for $750 but they are out at the loveland store and the sale ends friday they said. I dont care new or used what is the best deal going right now? Perfect one would be 16", middy and or dissy style but would take a carbine, 5.56.

Is a high end AR 16"/mid with rifle length quad rails, GOOD stock, BUIS and red dot for $900 asking to much? [Beer]

Ya but you have to order them, I want to get set up this weekend. Otherwise I would buy that Noveske match he has.

I would really like to get into a top tier, if the price was right for the right setup I would sell my liver and a lung and throw my soul in to boot! [Coffee]

In no particular order, if I had 900.00 and was looking for an AR:

CMMG
S&W M&P
Used 6920
Used LMT
Older Bushmaster
Rock River

I am sure I missed a few.

id say with the things you listed, $900 is too low. for a bone stock one it is reasonable, but you also said high end so what does that mean exactly? high end is different for everyone. some consider rock river high end, some consider it low end.

maybe for around a grand or 1100 you might be able to find like an m&p or something

Sportsmans has the m&p for 750 this week only its the orc model. Jensens has the sabers for 997 and the lmt for 1084. You should be able to find something in the 900 range.

How do you define good or bad AR? I have a non brand AR that are @ 9000 round count that has no issue whatsoever and have colt that rattles and have few mals @ 3000 rds. I know few guys with their own kit @ 15000 w/o replacing any parts just yet.

IMHO, internal matters, brand-name means nothing.

for $900 you could build what you want and get a better shooter than buying one off the shelf

and with a few hours work, you'd be done before the weekend

I priced that route and didnt see saving much money, or many parts locally, of course I dont know the best places to shop for parts, mainly barrel etc. I wouold like to build one if I could find the parts locally.

Check out CDNN, they have S&W M&P 15s on sale. Your price requirement would get you into a mid-range model. Only thing is they are carbine not "middy". Sorry, can't figure out how to post links.

I've done a couple of builds with them. Everything went smooth and parts fit well, turned out 2 nice rifles.
The artsy finishes are not very durable IMHO however.

Gotta have a collapsable stock.

If I wasnt in a hurry to get an ar I would just build one. But even then there is so many decisions! After having several Bushys, DPMS etc I really want "the one" I will keep for a long time. But its not looking good.

I could have sworn I posted in this thread, but apparently it was a different one. I still say BCM FTW. You obviously wouldn't have it this weekend, but I really don't think there is a better AR for the price (my opinion). I say this not in a rude way, but really wondering (maybe I missed it), what is the hurry? Don't get me wrong, I am probably one of the LEAST patient people when it comes to a gun I want, i'm the guy that is still kicking myself in the a$$ over guns i've sold to make other gun purchases. I would rather order online and wait awhile then be forced to "settle", just to have it quicker.

Bravo Company ships really fast, and for $520 you can get a 16" Carbine upper w/BCM BCG(sans handguards), and for another $270 you can get a Cosmetic blem lower (which according to some of the other forums i've been on, you can't even tell anything is wrong with them), so for $790 +shipping/FFL you are pretty much set (hell i'd give you a set of handguards if you bought a BCM), all you'd need then, is your choice of rear sight/optic, and you'd have an AR that would run with any Colt/Noveske etc. Just my humble opinion. Either way, good luck on your search.

You might give The Shootist in Englewood a call. They are listing a Bushmaster carbine for $850 on their website. They aren't normally the cheapest around but who knows? I was in there Monday and they had several ARs'.

Here is there phone number- 303-781-3382
