I have heard alot of people say that the Romanian WASR 10 AKs aren't very good. I've shot a couple and they seem to be fine. Are the older Romanian AKs better?Thank you
Some of there sights and gas blocks were canted on the barrels. The fuckers at the factory did that though. They shoot fine and can be really good guns. You just want to handle one first before you buy it.
The century guns are the worst because the monkeys at century would not fix the problems from the factory and they also built crappy recievers with a lot of mag wobble.
If its a century gun then check for excessive mag wobble and canted front sight and gas blocks. If those are good to go then the gun should be good to go.

better for what? (sorry, just a gut reaction, but "better" is relative- better than what?)
"Romanian" is a broad generalization... there are Romy G's, WASRs, Underfolders, Draco Pistols, etc... not to mention the whole issue of the "importer" (Century/CAI has lousy quality control) coming into the equation..
I've got a Romy G and a Pistol built from all Romy parts... both function great, and are more accurate than I expected from them. If you'd like to come out & shoot them, just send me a PM... (They are NOT for sale)

I think another reason peolpe complain is wasr 10 romanian receivers don't have the mag well dimples so to a purist they don't look right also the dimples normally serve to stabilize the magazine so that might be part of the reason why they can have excessive mag wobble, one thing to understand, side to side mag wobble is normal and from what I understand better to have a little side wobble than none at all. Mag wobble never was considered a problem I the ak world till ar guys started building ak's (no offense just totally different systems)

Romainians are decent rifles, they don't have the fit and finish of an Arsenal or Bulgarian but they are reliable.
The WASR's come into the country set up to take single stack mags and Century opens up the magwell to take a hi-cap mags. That is where you get the wobble, a little side to side is tolerable but accept no fore and aft play.
One advantage to the WASR-they are about the only complete CommBloc built rifles imported anymore, everything else is a parts gun which are only as good as the builder.
I will second the opinion that you don't want to buy one sight unseen though.
Even if you get one with a canted FSB and sloppy magwell those are easily fixed.
It's my favorite gun and post ban circa 2003. Its worth shooting and would suggest to anyone to get one. Check for canted sights though. Then ask for $50 off if they are.

in my opinion I would much rather buy a saiga and do my own conversion before buying a wasr. But even though I might sound like I'm bashing wasr's I'm actually not I think they can be pretty decent rifles if you find one with no forward aft mag movement and a tight up and down fitment then go for it I'd take a good one for the right price ;) but being a home builder the right price might be different for me than non builders.
