View Full Version : Outraged!! My lunch experience:
Lunchtime, I went to Subway. A large bodied female was trying to buy a sandwhich. She pulled out at least three credit cards, all declined. She then proceeded to waste 5 minutes by cursing out everyone (but herself) while shuffling through her purse. She pulls out a book of foodstamps! Cashier informs her that she cannot take them. The lady THROWS the book at the cashier and said, "look you white bitch, you'll take whatever I @#$^& damn give to you mother @#$^&." Before I can wipe the shock off my face the boss comes around teh corner and tells her to leave as he called the cops. She grabs teh sandwhich and leaves without paying for it!
I get my sandwhich, pay for it and leave an extra $10 (ouch my wallet) in the tip jar hoping it would cover the ladies meal. While pulling out of the parking lot I see the same lady coming out of the liquor store next door with 2 24 packs of beer in a cart!! WTF?! What is wrong with people. I was outraged.
No, the manager never called the cops. It was a bluff. I stayed there for about 15 minutes thinking I'd give them her liscene number, they never showed so I went back into Subway to ask if he really called. Nope...
I'm just outraged... grrrr.... Unacceptable behavoir on ANYONE's part no matter race/ethinicity/religion/sex/culture/etc.. WTF?!?!
The entitlement mentality at work, I expect to see more of this behavior.
The manager should have called the police and reported her for shoplifting.

Honorable move on your part bear. Subway can cover the sandwich, but those workers deserve a little bonus now and then for putting up with stuff like that. Wish the manager would have called the cops too.

Dunno! That was part of the outrage, I'm assuming she paid CASH... which she should've used for her sandwhich. I did a doubletake when I saw her exiting and almost hit a parked car, lol.
I'm not sure how foodstamps work, though I was really close to getting them about a year ago. But I'm pretty positive that liquor is a no-no. And the items you can buy are from a grocery store and only certain things then, like milk/bread/cheese/etc... not from a fast food chain.

Rgr, when I almost applied last year they told me it would be like a debit card thing. But this lady pulled out a small blue "book" and from what I saw, it did say "US...Foodstamps" on it.
I don't know. Either way, it was uncalled for behavoir.

They do not take EBT cards at liquor stores but you can use them at ATMs to get cash.

As I understand it EBT is the state "food stamp" program but there's also a federal one (where in the constitution does it say its the fed.gov's job to provide food?).

The feds give funds to the state for the various aid programs and they are handled directly through the state. The Quest card is the "new" foodstamp program. I say "new" as it has been in place as a EDT device for well over 13 years now. We used to see them daily in the wallets and vehicles of people we arrested.
I'm not sure what Bear saw; it does sound like one of the old stamp booklets. If that was the case, she had that in her wallet for a LONG time!
I watch people use those Quest cards at the 7-Eleven next to my office all the time to buy candy, soda and other junk and it pisses me off! It supposed to buy real food for your kids, not crap!
Yah, I bet she found them in a drawer at home and they were expired. That's why she threw the entire book at the cashier.

My fiance and I were on food stamps for the fall season, till I got a new job and reported the change of income (so as not to be charged for using them and required to pay them back). The above posts about what kind food you can buy are correct. You can only buy "cold" items, like food ingredients, and yes, you can buy chips, soda, and candy bars. No energy drinks, no alcohol, no tobacco, etc. There is a Quest card that has cash capability, but it's different than the food stamp program. Man that card was a LIFE SAVER this year, I was happy to have it!

Kind of reminds me of a time about 15 years ago, when I was obliged to go into the MallWart on Platte in the springs to pick up something for my employer. At that time, cell phones were still an extravagant luxury. So, I'm waiting in the checkout line, and this rather er...rotund woman is yacking nonstop on her cell phone (probably about $20 worth at the prevailing airtime rates). She continues to blabb while her rather sizable cart of mostly preprocessed frozen food is rung up, then proceeds to pay for her entire order with foodstamps. I was utterly flabbergasted. [Rant1]

The individuals like that expect to spend our tax dollars AND whatever they might make, if anything, while treating others like garbage then go drive off in their hummer or caddy, after calling everyone that doesn't like their behavior a racist. I have no problem with people who need assistance, especially for their kids. But the ones who've made a life out of living off welfare by cheating the system because they feel entitled make me want to puke. I'd be happy to cut their freebie chain off cold, and let them go find something approximating a job. Let's see them afford their cadillac, cell phones, cable, booze, and other crap then. The thing I find interesting is how many of them are rather, uh, large. Seems we could pare down the benefits, at least....

Oh, yeah. Just 'cause someone's a redneck, doesn't mean much to me. One of my best friends (late friend) was known as Redneck Rick, even by his wife. He was absolutely, completely a redneck. Hell, he took pride in it. And he was a great guy, and left three little boys who adored him when he passed. Just because you may be a redneck, doesn't mean you aren't a good person too. As far as I'm concerned, redneck and trash are two different things...

I do believe that the EBT is a good program for people who truly need it. Having grown up on it I know some of the ins and outs.
The old food stamps, the paper ones, you would get cash back in change. You could in turn use said cash to buy toilet paper, soap, or cigs and beer. Whatever floated you boat.
With the EBT they put welfare and food stamps on the same card so when you paid you could choose which "side" to use similar to checking v. savings at the ATM. Although you could not draw cash from the food stamps "side".
You can use it at Papa Murphy's though since the pizza is uncooked and "cold". Same with the cold fried chicken at King Soopers or Safeway.
I've always said you don't have to be white to be a redneck and you don't have to be black to be....well you know.......

Bottom line, it's just a broken system PERIOD (no secret to most of you), and it has GOT to be fixed. It's kind of hard however, when the same people that need to fix the scum mooching off of the tax payers, are the same people that want to extend unemployment AGAIN, and the same people that refuse to seal the border in order to keep folks NOT of this Country, from mooching as well.
As far as the attitude of this POS, it's the same attitude of the folks I pass by at Wal Mart saying things like "These Rude a$$ white mutha fu$%as", first of all LOOK AT WHAT WAL MART YOU ARE IN (Parker), secondly I agree on the rude folks, but why does it have to be the "white" mutha fu$%as? And YOU, based off of what you've said and your prevailing attitude, are exactly the type of person that this program was intended to help. You were legitimately in NEED while TRYING to improve your situation and the program provided interim support to get you through. I'm caucasion (European descent) here who doesn't like people in general. That's ANY people; white, black, brown, etc... Of course, there are many individuals such as many/most of the folks here that I've come to like.
And, sure, I'm racist. I won't deny that at all; at least not based on this definition of "race":

I’m offended by the race of individuals who believe that they deserve what I have more than I deserve it myself.

I have issues with those who can’t dress with any degree of pride in themselves and seem to fail to realize that the “waistband of your pants” actually belongs up at your waist, not down at mid-thigh. And I’m also racist toward those who don't think they need to complete an elementary education because, frankly, they're too smart already.
I'm racist towards those of the culture & social practice (race) that feel that what the system doesn't give them they have the right to use violence to take directly from me and mine and cause us injury or death to satisfy their sadistic pleasure. I have the obviously naïve believe that what I work to obtain I should be allowed to keep and use as I see fit.
Lastly, I'm racist towards the culture & social practice (race) of individuals who think that because of their ethnicity or socio-economic status, they have been prevented from obtaining the same opportunities that I've sought out and WORKED HARD to obtain. And because of this belief, they seem to think that they have the moral high ground and can use MY RACE, MY ETHNICITY, as a basis for insulting and demeaning me.
So yes, based on these reasons and the definition of “race” I quoted above, I’m racist. And do you know what? I’m proud of it and offer no apologies for it.
This woman in the Subway that Bear had the unfortunate displeasure of observing deserves nothing more from me than my absolute distain. Should I even have the opportunity to meet with her face-to-face, I would hope to heaven that I have enough character to put her in her place - not that it would knock any sense into her. She's already far too lost into her culture, or race, or entitlement. I fart in her general direction!
