View Full Version : This time of year
Today was my day off, so I decided to go through my "72 hour" kit, and I came up with a(at least I thought) good idea. Some of the canned goods are about to expire, and since I'm better off than a lot of folks, I thought I'd donate them to one of the food banks, then restock the kit with fresh provisions. I think a lot of us could do this, and maybe make a difference this season. [Beer]
I agree, coats for the homeless, toys for tots, Bikes for under privleged kids & food. We all need to look at the blessings we have in our lives and use them to bless others.

Tremendous ideas.
I getted so wrapped up in my own issues that I often fail to remember just how very blessed I am.
While I have absolutely no pity for those who have created their situations in life, I also realize that many folks are just victims of bad turns of events, or the bad decisions of others (children for example).
I'll go through my shelves tomorrow and see what I can give up. I also think I've got a coat or two that I could part with.

Buy those kits that come in a sealed 5 gallon bucket...they have a shelf life of 20yrs in a 50 degree climate. I have a bunch and open one up that has been sitting for 11 years and was still fresh.

We just went throught the closets a few weeks ago and donated like 10 coats, most hadnt been worn in years. Will have to make a food donation run this weekend.
