In order to stop the illegal flow of guns southward across the US/Mexico border BATFE wants to implement a requirement to have dealers report multiple sales of rifles that:
Accept a detachable magazine
Are .22 caliber or larger
Are purchased by the same individual within 5 consecutive daysLooks like the white house put a stop to this earlier this summer because of the potential for causing problems during the mid-term elections. However, the BATFE wants them to revisit the issue now.

I really don't have the words to describe how angry this makes me.

Read it, still steaming.

Some of it sounds like the SS tactics.

Leave the borders wide open but infringe upon the rights of your citizens.
Nice work .Gov!

The spooky part- one of the major influences to the BATF's decision was a series of reports from Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) which our Governor Elect, John Dickenpooper is a signature founding member.
If you don't think he will sell us out as far as 2A issues go-Wise up.
I would not be the lest surprised to see Colorado follow Kalifornia's examples.

Time for the .gov to go assist the Federales. This crisis is going to spill over to our borders with serious consequences. Latest reports show car bombings and "terrorist" tactics on part of the cartels.
Sounds like a job for U.S. Special Forces, but hey what do I know? I won't be visiting Mexico anytime soon. Good luck Mexican Marines & Army.

I Have been accused on more than one occasion of over simplifying things. I still contend that we enforce the Laws we have.

Crazy, I know

But as I understand it, the weapons that they(cartels) are acquiring from the U.S. are straw purchases and aren't those already illegal?

+1. I wonder what is better: Accepting a little bit more of gun control or getting a new "assault weapon" (dumbest term ever) ban?

I don't really think it's a question of which one is better. Every time we accept a little more (known to the left as "compromise") they just move on to their next item that they want "compromise" on. At this point, we have laws that cover everything they're whining and complaining about. I'm 100% convinced that they don't enforce the current laws solely so they can enact more, in the name of "protecting" us. We DON'T need more laws. Period. This is all just more smoke screen on the part of those who want to make us defenseless.

I think I am going to go buy 3 or 4 guns a day until someone shows up to my door, and when they do I am going to be wearing a Hitler costume with the Buck Orama signs in place of the swastikas, that-a-way they just give me a hand salute and say "DOWN WITH CONSTITUTION" and carry on there way.[Mad]

They are still going with the myth that the guns used by Mexico drug cartels are from America. I think the mythbusters should have investigated Obama's birth certificate and saved us a bunch of trouble for the rest of his term.

So if you buy 5 AR-10's (lol, I wish) and then the dealer is forced to report you, it's up to the ATF if they want to make contact with you. If the ATF decides to contact you, what happens? Isn't this already a rule for if you buy 5 or more handguns? What does the ATF do?

My biggest concern is that like the IRS, the ATF likes to target well off white guys, and ignore, or use, real criminals, like illegals, to catch law abiding well off white guys.

what they are very quiet about is the fact that only a small portion of the firearms captured from cartels could be traced, and of those only a small portion came from north of the border.

the idea that drug soldiers are equipped exclusively with guns from the U.S. is a blatant lie.

If I had the money I'd buy 10 AR's then give the atf agent the finger.

Ah but you must buy FULLY automatic one's, that is what the cartels are getting from the "alleged" gun smugglers in the US.

However investigators found that for some reason most of the FULLY automatic weapons the drug criminals had seemed to come from Brazil. Hmm who woulda thunk.

You know this whole situation with Mexico is asinine. I recall reading a year or so ago that the US had wanted serial numbers of firearms that Mexico had seized and Mexico refused to provide the numbers.
A large amount of Mexican military personnell are employed by the cartels or they have just AWOL'd and went to the cartels.
They take their weapons with them.
We supply the Mexican military with arms so yes, the majority of M4's and M-16's are in fact coming from here.
Plus look at the economics- why would a cartel purchaser come to the US and drop a grand on a decent AR and go through the hassle of smuggling it back when that same grand will buy a case of AK's from any number of sources?
Just a week or so ago "Border Wars" had an episode where they popped a vehicle with 5 or 6 WASR's stashed throughout that supposedly was headed into Mexico. I kinda thought the story was BS because loaded mags were sitting on/under the seat but the rifles were all behind panels, bumpers etc and inaccessable. Also the rifles had the tape type tags that Century provides from the factory. It just struck me as odd that a "cartel" went to all the trouble to stash the rifles, ditch the reciept, load the mags and just leave them lying on the seat at the border crossing and leave the tags on the rifles.
The media and .gov is feeding the anti 2A machine.
Of course most all problems with Mexico would stop if the security of the border was upheld.[Bang]

This is very predictable. Gun control on the Federal legislative level is a pariah politically, it gets gun owners riled up so that they vote.

Thus, administrative law making is where the problems are going to come from: EPA is urged to regulate bullets, a million M1s are blocked from importation, and now this "emergency" proposal. Emergencies will be declared whether there is one or not.

Sounds good to me ... lets get the electorate all fired up over the nonsense at BATFE just as conservatives (in particular small government types that march under a Gadsden flag) are coming to power.

Maybe this will get the auditing and eventual dismantling of the BATFE on the table in the next few years.
