Christmas, Birthday, and Retirement gift all in one. I've been sort of looking for an M1A Scout for a couple of years now, but haven't been able to connect with one when I had the cash (had one or the other, but never both). So I came across a DPMS LR-308 Carbine with the new forward assist upper, AP-4 barrel and a free float tube. Long story short, it followed me home wearing a decent little 1-4 scope. I also got 2 20 round and 1 10 round DPMS magazines and 3 Magpul PMAGs for it. All I have to do now is get a DPMS carbine buffer for it so I can put the Magpul CTR stock I've been sitting on for just such an occasion, and switch the front sight tower out for the rail type gas block I just happen to have. I really like that there are some AR-15 parts on it, like the fire control parts and stock. I'm not thrilled with the barrel, because I don't like the M-4 style cut; I don't think that it does anything but weaken the barrel since this thing will never wear a GL. But I can shoot the crap out of it and then put on a barrel I like. And around that time I think a PRI Gen III carbon fiber free float tube might just get added, too. Make a 7.62 SPR out of it!

OK, I'm going to try to use an image hosting setup here for the first time....let's see if I can get it to work-

Sweet.

What is Retirement exactly?

In my case, it's having to change jobs because the military medically retired me.

So you have the "Fall-over" retirement plan?
