Are these assholes that are sending them out really able to get money off of the people they send them to?? I just don't see how they are profiting from such a stupid scheme?????

Maybe not ones that stupid, but I should be getting at least 3 mil from a guy who needed a foreigner to get money out of a trust. [Flower]

I used to enjoy replying to them & taking up as much of their time as possible, thus reducing the possibility that they could find a real victim.

As men we laugh about this, but I have a friend whos elder Mother got taken pretty bad by a guy with promises. Sad stuff.

Someone in my family was in danger of a slightly more elaborate scam earlier this year. I hope he didn't fall for it. They basically called him and said that his recently passed on wife was owed money still by someone, and if he paid them XX amount of dollars, they'd give him the information to collect on the debt. Very shady.

while I was working collections I spoke to an older lady that broke down into tears on the phone. she was behind on all her bills because she had been cleaned out by scammers. sad situation.

I think that things are so financially tight for the elderly that they tend to foget all of the lessons theyd learned through their lives about how deceitful people can be and throw caution to the wind to reap a windfall. It's especially sad because they can least afford the financial setbacks - which are often permanent. Those who prey on the elderly and on children are the lowest form of scum on the planet.

Now, those of us who are a bit of a less "seasoned" age have absolutely no excuse for falling for these schemes - but folks still due. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that you just don't get something for nothing, ever. And, anyone wanting to charge you anything to get a load of cash is just a con artist looking to strip you bare financially.

The government endorse/regulated lotteries are bad enough, but at least you know that if you buy a ticket it's a small and controlled investment and that somebody is going to win and it could be (ridiculously slim chance, but it's possible) you.

What really sucks is the fact that my Nigerian uncle never wanted to spend any time with me. He could have invited me there or came to visit. All he ended up doing was to leave me 25 million dollars!![ROFL1][ROFL2][ROFL1]

25 mil for ignoring you isn't a bad trade I suppose and it will go a long way towards healing any emotional difficulties you may encounter.

I see you're handling it well. [Beer]

There is no guarantee that someone will win the lotto. You have to choose the right numbers.

Huh, what? Next thing you'll tell me is I have to play to win.

Obama gonna take care of me from his stash in Nigeria where his brother is.
