What are the specs on this? What is considered NFA/AOW?

To the best of my knowledge_
Rifle- anything with a barrel length less than 16" and or OAL of 26" is an NFA item.
Shotgun- anything with a barrel length less than 18" is an AOW. Not sure about OAL on a shotty.

Dont hold me to this-that is what I recall from thumbing through the NFA though

THE GUN CONTROL ACT OF 1968
TITLE 18, UNITED STATE CODE, CHAPTER 44
§ 921 Definitions.
(5) The term "shotgun" means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned
and made or remade to use the energy of an explosive to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger.

(6) The term "short-barreled shotgun" means a shotgun having one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length and any weapon made from a shotgun (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if such weapon as
modified has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches.

If the gun left the factory with a buttstock on it it is a shotgun by definition. It becomes a Short Barreled Shotgun if you cut it down.

I the gun left the factory with just a pistol grip and no shoulder stock it is not a shotgun by the regulation definition. If you shorten a smoothbore gun that isn't a shotgun you can register it as Any Other Weapon.

If you are interested in NFA stuff I always recomend downloading the BATFE NFA Handbook.-
