If I start with a 4" x 4" (16sq inch) target at 200yds.

And I want to scale that to 100yds.

Is that 2"x2" (4sq in) or is that 2.83" x 2.83" (8sq inches)?

I vote, either-or.

That said, the 2X2 would be easier to make. Going for the 8sq in, You'd need a ruler that has 64ths on it and, still Your not really get to the .83 so, Your going to be slightly more than or, slightly less than the full 8sq in.
Maybe there is somebody out there with higher math skills than I that could do it.

Its easy to make a 2.83 inch drawing. Use CAD print to a 1:1 scale.

As far as which is correct, I dunno. I iwll have to ponder that. However, based upon milliradians, I would assume you scale the linear distances.

This is all triangle based geometry.

You want 2 inches at 100yds, that way both will be ~1.9 MOA across.

Some people just have too much time.

I would say 2x2 but thats just me. I am simple.
