I have 4 of the critters along with 2 dogs and all get along well.
This little guy is my son's and yes-he sits like that all the time........

Now these two are a pair- The white and grey one is a Maine Coon and he is something else. He will ride around on your shoulder like a parrot and when he hears his treat bag he starts drooling and slobbering....

When my dad was sick (kidney dialysis and related issues), I brought my cat, Jasper, over to hang out and he stayed for another 10 years. He would sit with my dad and be petted while dad was sick, in pain and when dad passed away, Jasper did the same with my mom for years while she grieved.

Jasper was a really cool cat who kind of acted like a dog. He begged at the table and would get up onto the table if you weren't paying attention and eat off your plate. He was a great companion for me for 6 years and for my parents for 10 years. I'll have to dig up a photo of him to post.

I tell ya...animals enrich our lives much more than we do theirs.

I just posted this and saw 'Bert's photos and holy cow! His cat that he describes as timid and low key is Jasper! Jasper looked EXACTLY like his cat.

I won't have any more cats, at least as long as I live in the city (the dogs would just think they're either toys or food) but I had a big old grey tabby for about 12 years that was sure he was a dog. Sarge would come when you called him, he'd run to meet me at the door, and he'd ignore a laser pointer while he enjoyed watching my 128 pound Shepherd Mix (TJ) run around like an idiot chasing it until he frothed at the mouth. Sarge ran about 16 pounds, so he was pretty good size. He got sick finally, and he was so dehydrated they had to give him the euthanasia in his belly, and it took a long time. I held him and cried like a baby as he passed. He was my best friend during some of the loneliest times of my life.

Yep, our previous cats did the same thing. (too feral) Bit my son when he was 6 months old, ended up taking him to the ER for the bites. PD and Animal control got involved, cats were monitored and eventually released from animal controls hit list. Put on the welding gloves, got a box and donated to dumb friends league. Sad day. 10 years later, picked up these two from DFL, awesome cats.

This is Tom. We had him for about a week. We were having a mouse problem over the summer and my buddy needed to find this little guy and his siblings a good home. We took him in, but my fiance's asthma started acting up. She rarely uses her inhaler, but she was using it more and more. We had to find him another home :(
