View Full Version : SSAR15 Bump Fire Stock
Some of you more frequent ARFCOMers might have already seen this but it's new to me. Not sure I would touch this product but looks like fun!! A little pricey for my taste and kinda ugly to but for $319 you can almost have full auto.

Sorry can't figure out how to show vid w/o the link
Can buy it here:

Kind of a neat concept. The stock is ugly though.
I'm on another forum that's doing a group buy on them. . .
if you can get 20 people, they're $250
60 = $200
my only concern is the ATF coming looking for them (like when Mr Aikens was selling his invention)

Yep that's the only reason I'm leary of buying one.
yeah same here all i can see is the ATF changing there minds.

Looks like too much fun to get away with. [Beer]

Yeah, maybe they'll let the ones who bought one get grandfathered in.[Muaha]

That is really slick. I may have just found a reason for another build...

It's ugly, but it sure looks FUN....may have to figure out a way to acquire one.
according to the site there is an ATF letter allowing them.
but I could just see taking one to the range and having some ignorant pick throw a hissy fit. like what happened to David Olofson.
looks awesome!
Hopefully they allow these to get mass produced. I would like to see magpul get the technology and make something that looks more attractive!

So, I'm reading this thread thinking "Naw, not my thing".
I get to the last post (above this one) and click on the YouTube link to watch the vid.
I must say that I was impressed and think it could come in handy in a TEOTWAWKI scenario, but could also waste a lot of ammo. Overall, my opinion was positive - until I clicked on the link to see how much they cost. HOLY COW they think a lot of those stocks.
I don't see one in m foreseeable future unless one of you on this site wins the lottery and buys one for me.

The Akins accellerators didn't get grandfathered in. If the ATF changes their minds, I wouldn't expect to see these get grandfathered either.

The Akins had 2 letters from the ATF both allowing them for civie sale....lotta good it did them.
If the ATF writes you a letter, it applies to YOU only, and even then, it is only if they feel like it.
EDIT: Watched the video. That is fucking sweet! I give it till the end of this year before it is illegal. Sooner if a politician gets a hold of it.

I forsee this going the way of the Accelerator. ATF says it's good to go...someone else in the AFT see it and says "Whoa woah woah!!! Negative"...and then they get pulled back in. All it takes is one shooting with this device and someone flips their lid and away they go. It's unfortunate but that's the way it goes. Anything that reliably replicates full auto has been a no go so far with the ATF. They have allowed the "GAT Trigger systems" and other gimmic bolt on parts because they don't really work well. The Accelerator and this make bumpfire very easy, hence my prediction.

Maybe this is how those cartels have been getting their fully automatic weapons from our gun shows.
hopefully the prices comes down and in a year or 2 i can pick one up. sure looks like a lot of fun.
If someone's going to buy one, let me know. I'll give you the money to order one for me too. . . .I just don't want my name on a list somewhere when they come looking for them with their "Jack Boots" on
This device actually causes you to pull the trigger every time. So just because the device is there doesn't mean you are going to be fully auto with a trigger pull - and the trigger remains the device that fires the weapon. Wow. This is the first winner (ATF compliance) I've seen in all of the designs, including the Accellerator.
The ATF will have to do some SERIOUS tap-dancing around every other ruling they have ever made in order to deem this illegal.
320 is a hefty price though . . . I might have been tempted had it been a tad lower. Then, of course, I would have to build a rifle around it. Maybe a nice 2011 project for me . . .

Don't underestimate them. if the govt doesn't want you to have it, you won't have it.

hehe sure, that's 320 plus 500 S&H.
how bad do you not want to be on a list? [Tooth]
I found and read their ruling on the AA, and I see how they are going to apply the same rule to this device. The only difference I see here is that this device is actually pulling your hand open, as the trigger and the grip are moving in opposite directions. This means if you are not applying pressure to the trigger, or fail to apply enough pressure, you cannot force the trigger to activate. So there has to be a conscious effort to apply enough pressure to make the weapon fire again.
The ATF is going to maintain that applying a certain amount of pressure to the trigger will make the weapon fire until the ammunition is exhausted. And they will somehow make it stick. But this device is the most ingenious one to comply with the current rulings by the ATF. As this manufacturer will learn, it is hard to hit a moving target, and the exact ATF regulation for these types of devices is constantly on the move.

Maybe a bunch of us can get together with one of the businesses that are industry partners here and do group buy to lower the price.
Or a few of us go in on one and reverse engineer it to make a bunch of bootleg copies?
They sure look fun and more accurate than those old activator units. [AR15]

whoever bought it would rat you out in an instant if the ATF came pounding on their door wanting to confiscate it or offering sexy time with thunder-dick in prison.

yet I consistently see UBR and PRS stocks on ARs. the price isn't that high...especially for the fun factor. what does the UBR and PRS really do?
I don't find the price that outrageous. I have UBR and PRS stocks myself, I would be more than happy to sell one of those, spend an extra $100 and have something awesome like this

The other forum I'm on (Northeastshooters) has a group buy going and they are approx $250 for 20 and $200 for 60.
That forum is having difficulty getting to 20, mostly due to people being afraid that 6 months from now it'll be illegal and a waste of $250
I have 2 lowers in my safe waiting for another build. Maybe a SBR ????

doesn't look that complicated- and if they haven't applied for a patent, you could sell copies... if they have, you can still make one for "yourself"- just can't sell 'em.
$320 is gouging for what it is- maybe they're saving up for the lawyers?

Im down with a group buy
Had to edit my post for wanting one. All it is, is a cheap piece of plastic that was probably injection molded for $8 a piece. The design looks pretty damn simple actually. There are no mechanical parts in it. There is the lock in the back to keep it from moving the inch it needs to get the trigger pull, but that is about it. The stock bolts onto your lower and is just hollow in the tube area with nothing in there. The bolt that holds the retainer in the handle base (which connects the stock to the lower) keeps the stock from sliding all the way off via a stopper that goes down into the hollow handle. There are other pictures which show the base plate when the stock is all the way back, but I didn't post one of those, sorry. Basically it just floats the one inch or so for the trigger pull. You have to pull your gun away from the stock with your hand that is on your guns forearm while holding onto the pistol grip with your other hand. You pull the two pieces apart basically is all you are doing. Your finger rests on the outside of the stock, (shown with red arrow, and bad looking green finger) not on the trigger (blue). So when you pull your gun forward and away from the stock, it pulls the trigger into your finger which of course fires the gun. the recoil then sends it back the one inch or so into the stock and then you just pull forward agian and again and again and so on. You only stop the "full auto" type action when you run out of ammo, or you stop pulling your gun forward. That would really make your tricep tired on your other arm... What would be annoying, is that when you don't have it locked into place for semi auto fire, the stock would just rattle back and fourth in your hand. If you dropped the nose of your gun, the gun would move forward in the stock (potential to accidently slide the trigger into your finger). If you pointed the nose up, the gun would fall back in the stock (just an annoying movement). There is nothing that stops it from moving back and fourth but the lock. So that kind of has its draw backs also. For something so easy to make, they sure did make it dog ass ugly.

Anyone know how to do injection molding?
I think they should redo the design of it. You know they will, or someone else will make one that is better. I think it should go something like this:
http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h403/asrspyder/VLTORbump.jpg
Sorry, made it look like my vltor, but you get the drift. This way, you can keep the adjustable stock if you want. They could put the keeper pin in the side of the stock or somewhere above the handle. Blue and red arrow is where the gap is that is needed to do the "bump". They could also make it as just the tube and grip that would fit the aftermarket stocks like the vltor or magpul over it. Then you would just buy the tube and put whatever stock you wanted on it. Who knows, just think the one they have now kinda sucks. I will wait for a better version. Well unless the ATF bans this one also.
