View Full Version : Gun Prices???

I have a conundrum, why do people at gun shows and some forums, [Wink][Wink]
add a buffer to the price of there weapons? I try to keep my prices at the value that the item is selling at on EBAY or gunbroker, that is the fair-market value, I had a guy at a show tell me that my gun was not worth what it was selling for on Broker, but his was worth 350 more then it was selling for anywhere. I know they have to make table, but I was already cutting the guy a deal. I promptly laughed and made a speedy exit. I have also ran in to people on some forums doing the 2 Benjamin shuffle, I had a guy with a Win SX2 new, nice gun don't get me wrong, asking 750 for it?? So I being the alert consumer investigated the value of said weapon. I found one same exact gun, no sorry 13 of them, on Broker for 550 and as a result stated to the guy that I think he was a little high on his prices, he told me that his was a wis-bang super duper Blah blah... gun that he bought back in 05 when it came out and he was there inline to get it, very low serial number... So I told him that the gun was more important to him then it was to me and he should put it back in the safe for another day. [Bang]
I just don't get it, If you offer someone, something be prepared to part with it and don't be surprised if they look it up and if the price is high call you on it. If you mark something up the other guy can too.[Mad]
Not trying to piss anyone off just interested and want to vent a little about the topic.

lol, :P Thanks for listening lol
Why do people get upset at price of anything nonessential? If you don't like the price just make an offer. If the seller doesn't accept your offer you can walk away. Nothing says you have to buy it. You have no devine constitutional right to buy something at a low price. The seller has no moral obligation to sell it to you at your price. If you can get it cheaper off ebay buy it there.
A buyer has a moral obligation to know the value of what he buying even if he is only spending a dime. If the buyer is too lazy to research or find out what he can get it for elsewhere that is his responsibility. If the buyer knows it's worth a dime but is willing to spend a quarter it's decision to make. You have nothing to do with it.
The perfect deal is when the buyer and the seller both walk away happy. It doesn't matter who paid what.

First the prices on Ebay and Gunbroker are very misleading. They could start the bidding low and have a high reserve or they start the bidding at or around the price they "want". It's an auction so the price is never really set if you have two dumbasses fighting over a 300 dollar gun.
Then you have to consider that at gunshows the people there are usually a business or an extreme reseller, and do not make money buying at actual cost. It seems they will always offer 50-60% of the actual value.
As for their prices being high our hobby (next to comic geeks, and enviro hippies) probably has the highest per capita of self absorbed, axis II personality disorder assholes amongst all hobbies.

True true, But If I post a item at said' price and Ahole #1 sees my item wants it and has a item of lesser value, but inflates his price
to compensate for the value of my item which is at fair market value, So in-turn I have to investagate because I think his value is a little higher then what it should be and the notify Ahole#1 of that and Thank him/her for their time and have wasted mine, which=$ or a I have to hold on another deal, which in turn starts the process over with Ahole#2. Now before it's a burn Thrashday at the post kinda party up in here, 80% of the people I have dealings with are Awesome, Grade-A citizens, It's the 20%ers I'm referring to. So pls don't be hurt by my rambling, I know some of you are feel the way I do, I have talked to you, You told me. SAnd I totally understand what you are saying I just don't like it lol, Kidding. It just "Grinds my Gears" Peter Griffin.

I would have to disagree with the comment about misleading prices. When I look at a item to try to find the value I look at the SOLD price and if there are 10 items that all sell at 100.00 then that is the going rate+ shipping. Because if a Apple is selling at a gun show for 10.00 and they are selling on ebay for 5.00 and you are not in need to that Apple, (not want, need) and you can wait for it to ship, then it is cheaper any way you look at it... now if you are comparing 2 items.. I will not get into it, it's hurting my head. None the less if a item sells for whatever and it is cheaper some where else then that retailer pisses me off, there are no facts here, its all about if the seller is a Jerk or if he does not inflates prices.
I was a sportcard collector for years so I know about self absorbed; axis II personality disorder assholes, and I told them how I felt too.
I not trying to fix it, I just wish they would not make me inflated offers, and everyone else would stop buying there shit so they would get the picture.

[Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang]
and I am the stupid one?
[ROFL1] I love some of these rants! This is my take as a seller and buyer on ebay and on gunbroker. Who gives a shit what anyone is selling something for? Do your homework and buy the least expensive item you can find that is quality. If you are selling, again, do your damn homework and sell your item for what it can sell for. If you can't get the money you want out of an item, wait till you can or bite the bullet on the price you can sell it for now. If you want to buy something for more than what other people are selling it for, tell me and I will buy one of the other guys and gladly sell it to you. If you bought a gun from Cabela's lets say, a $500 M&P .45 and a couple hours later a guy notices your new shiny gun at the range and offers you $650 for it, would you take it? Damn right you would. If you knew you could do that over and over again, would you do it? Damn right you would. Most sellers will try to get the most they can for their product. Go figue, most buyers will try to pay as little as possible for the product they want. I made a great living selling cars for sticker, as we always said, there is an ass for every seat. [Coffee]

No...that was the going rate for those items at the time they sold.
Because if a Apple is selling at a gun show for 10.00 and they are selling on ebay for 5.00 and you are not in need to that Apple, (not want, need) and you can wait for it to ship, then it is cheaper any way you look at it...
Wrong again. You've failed to figure in: shipping/postage, credit card fees if any (very popular to charge online, few face-to-face retailers do this), transfer fees, etc... I frequently do transfers for people that think they're getting a great price by buying online and are ultimately disappointed once the final bill is tallied.
None the less if a item sells for whatever and it is cheaper some where else then that retailer pisses me off, there are no facts here, its all about if the seller is a Jerk or if he does not inflates prices.
WTFE, dude. That statement shows a complete ignorance of how the retail world and the free market works. Where is it written that all retailers are required to charge the same price for a given item? Clue...no where. No one gives a rat's ass if you're pissed off because retailers don't all charge the same price.
I was a sportcard collector for years so I know about self absorbed; axis II personality disorder assholes, and I told them how I felt too.
I not trying to fix it, I just wish they would not make me inflated offers, and everyone else would stop buying there shit so they would get the picture.
How hard is it not to pay an inflated price? How does it affect you? Don't buy it if you don't like the price. If you do buy it, then don't bitch about inflated prices. Obviously, if you bought it, the price wasn't inflated to the point that it influenced you enough not to pay it.
This one really takes the cake for ridiculous rants.
The price - in my time and effort - was so inflated that I really shouldn't have responded. I'm gonna respond to another, less expensive rant next time.

I think it is kinda funny how posts on here start about one thing, and then they turn into compeletely different things a few pages into them. Interesting... and funny!

you were up to fourteen in your last one spyder! although you used 16 instead of sixteen. You could have made some progress there[ROFL1]
Wow... <-- One word. Now it's up to eight, unless you take the contraction of "it's" and count it as two since it is actually the conjoining of the two words "it" and "is". That would now make this post to include forty three words.... wait, what was the original point of this thread?

I thought it was the opposite? and always strike a line through your check after you write out the amount, but don't write "dollars" because it is clearly written on the check.[Muaha]
