Thanks to all who responded to the Wow post. To those of you asking for info on getting started:
1) Have a plan in place before you contact stores. It takes a commitment and credibility to make this work.Contact managers at the location and have a food bank to work with.
2)The stores that bring up the liability issue: http://feedingamerica.org/partners/product-partners/protecting-our-partners.aspx use this info that even they may not be aware of. Don't debate-inform !
3) Once you have a plan and a schedule-stick to it.
4) Make as little impact as possible at the store when picking up.
Those ideas will help getting you started. We are working with Whole Foods at this time. If your going to use a Whole Foods you can refer them to the Westminster store at 92nd and Sheridan as being involved with The Journey Church in this. Since we are established with times and days at this store they usually have carts filled and in familiar areas so we really don't have to bother them when we show up.
Thanks to all who showed an interest. This doesn't have to be done by a church. Scouts,neighborhood group,Vet group,etc. all will work.
