I had a Ciener with Black Dog mags. Ran without a hitch for a carbine class.
Not the most accurate thing in the world, and when I switched to 5.56 it blew a ton of junk out (kind of funny, actually) but its great for training.
You just need to find the right ammo and "tune" the kit.

Had great luck with mine... after I had to machine it to function...
More on this (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12173&highlight=Ciener). And other (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22344&highlight=Ciener) things (http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10596&highlight=Ciener).

I have a cmmg and have run a few bricks through it without any issues. The only complaint I have is the cleaning afterward. It leaves the rifle VERY dirty.

I had a Criener, worked for awhile but accuracy just is not there with a 223 barrel.
got a DPMS one, worked better, they don't make them anymore. but if you want some real accuracy, bite the bullet and get a CLE.
mine will shoot with the Anschutz all day long.
All the rest are just toys.

imo its worth spending the extra dollars just to get a dedicated .22 Upper. I won't say conversion kits blow up all the time, but has happen enough were its not a rare occurrence. Cry Once and buy once.
I have owned several over the years. Right now Nordic and Tactical Solutions are the ones I use.

My Ciener has run fine for years. Had to straighten and polish my brother IL's to get it to work.
Sure makes the rifle a whole lot'o fun. Daughter loves to go Rambo with it.[AR15]
