best guns as an investment

just wondering what others think about which guns are best from an investment standpoint. i personally like old winchesters and such, but class 3's have been a good place to put your money. just harder to part with when you need the money.

A friend of mine that collects told me not to collect to make money. He says buy what you like. Some make money some dont. Me I want to get into Class 3guns. I will enjoy them and some day either give them to my kids or sell them off. Either way I wont think about how much they have or havent gone up in value.

He collects Pre 64 Winchesters. I know people that collect SAA Colts. I would say go with what you like.

I have yet to see any full auto guns or sears go down in value...

Seems to me any and all guns maintain value. I have sold old WWI, WWII, black ones, and western ones, never lost any $$ on any.

or full auto, but the risk with full auto is that your investment could go to zero overnight.

If you know what you are doing, do your research, the best investments are used guns over new, with a very few exceptions.

I rarely buy new and try very hard to understand the market and the piece when I buy.

class 3 goes up and down. right now is probably a decent time to invest as the economy is down, the prices of class 3 stuff is down. gotta have the $$ though.

anything that has potential for another ban is not a bad choice as well. probably not a viable option for a little while due to our current majority. had we not won it would be a whole other story.

high value and big name brand guns are probably next on the list. start with the most collectible and move down from there. colt and smith always seem to keep their values pretty well.

a ruger or taurus not nearly as much. great guns and function is awesome, but the likelihood of these going up in value is not nearly as much as a colt or smith or something.

yes, but if you engrave them they would be worth...well nevermind, even a highly engraved hi-point would probably still be worthless[ROFL1]
