His involvement that would be non-existent if government officials weren't involved.

Didn't watch much of it but what I saw it seemed like typical self serving BarryO, capitalizing on the opportunity.
No matter how warm and fuzzy he may have seemed remember this is the same guy that refused to call the Islamic killer of 13 a terrorist, granted civilian trial priveleges to a known terrorist, groveled and bowed in subserviance to foreign leaders, apologized to Japan for WWII, rammed health care down our throat, refuses to close the border, considers political opponents the enemy, tell his pundits that he knows who's ass to kick, tells his political opponents that if they bring a knife, he will bring a gun, still refuses to provide any documentation pertaining to his past, has flat out lied in regards to his history of his youth, has attended a radical "ethnic" church for over 20 years, uses a social security # from a state he never resided in, has appointed well documented communists/marxists to his cabinet, feels it is acceptable to build a mosque so very close to hallowed ground, first sitting Pres in history to fail to attend Memorial Day services at Arlington, was invited and declined to attend the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

Did I leave anything out?

I think Sarah said more in 7 minutes than he probably did in 30.
At least with her you know it is genuine.

A review from Powerline.

I did not watch or listen to the speech. Obama is a sack of shit and I hope he gets squished out of office in 2012.

It was a good moment when he said she opened her eyes, and when he recognized those that were involved.

after that I started to fast forward. he just rambled on and on.

could have cut the speech by half or more and still got the point across.

I watched out of curiosity and found it to be surreal!
The Indian rambling on at the beginning, Obama doing his best to lip-sync the words to the Anthem, the applauding like it was a concert! Janet and Holder reading scripture from Bible passages. The Prez having to sit there while AZ's Governor spoke(bet he enjoyed that). My wife asked me why Michele was wearing white? Seemed a bit casual to me.
Why didn't they just do the wave?

The Indian, that is what made it uncomfortable to watch from the start.

After that I could not bare to listen to Obama pretend to know any of these people he spoke about. Should have been the families in my opinion.

Agreed, but I think he handled it fairly well. And in all fairness, the republicans have been just as disgusting as the dems in this whole situation...

"we should strive to be better."

Every visit to the range. Every slow steady squeeze.

Reminds me of the "change" we were all promised.

To any politician or anyone interested in public service - Talk is cheap. Tell us what you think the problem is. Let us know what you want to do about the problem. Individually, we will decide if that fits with our ideals and principles. We will decide if we will support you or oppose you in your policies. Strength is found in our differences and our ability to function despite those differences. Tension creates improvement.

It is true the pres only shows up after stuff involving politicans, Bush and everybody else were the same way. He did do a good job of not blaming guns, Republicans, Democrats, AZ etc. Every one needs to help keep this stuff from happening. The Dems and Repubs share equal blame for the hatred in our country currently. Not saying I would vote for him, but I think he did a good job!

Or perhaps a wolf in sheep's clothing.
After reading a bit of text of his speech some things really perked up my ears:

"Already we have seen a national conversation commence, not only about the motivations behind these killings, but about everything from the merits of gun safety laws to the adequacy of our mental health systems."

Translation: So in other words the current "Gun safety" laws don't work and we need more.

"So yes, we must examine all the facts behind this tragedy. We cannot and will not be passive in the face of such violence. We should be willing to challenge old assumptions in order of preventing such violence in the future."

Translation: We are going to go after gun rights like wolves on a bleeding elk. The 200 year old Constitution doesn't mean a damn thing.

A Wolf in sheeps clothing indeed....

He has Never stopped campaigning. But he did have a different speech writer for this occasion.

he is a heck of a speaker but I don't trust him any more than I would a viscous starving rattlesnake near a newborn baby in a sealed tank.
