What did I do??

When I try to make a post and attempt to quote someone with a quote mark, instead of getting the little quote marks, I get the actual word quote preceded by &. Also, the smilies have been eliminated when I want to use one. Is it me or my computer - I did NOT disable the smilies!

Look at the bottom-left of your window.

Do your "Posting Rules" setting look like this:

Click "user CP"
On the left click "edit options"
Scroll down to "Misc options"
"Message editor interface block"
Set it to (Enhanced mode)
Click "save" at the bottom.

We shall see. Nope, still can't get the smilies or quote marks. Did as Jerry directed and when I got down to the "message editor interface block", I get the choices of Basic Editor, Standard Editor, Enhanced Interface and the enhanced interface is the one that has been in that block all the time. Clicked on SAVE on bottom. Still can't get smilies or the quote marks.???????????? I have noted that in the little tool bar right immediately above my first sentence in this message block (that is while the message is still being composed and yet to be sent) there is a smiley face but clicking on it also made no difference. ????????

Smilies should be on the right. The little one at the top should drop them down as well. Try logging out then back in.

Have you checked all your settings? (I know, you problely have.) Let me take a look in the admin section and see what is what..

As everyone can tell, I know very very little about computers, keyboards and all that stuff. Could the problem possibly be on my end, like maybe I hit some key inadvertently to turn off some of the normally available stuff? Another problem, not associated with my efforts to add smilies and quote marks on this site, after I print something, when I turn off the printer, the damn computer totally shuts down and this occurs about every other time I print something.... I hate to have to hire someone to come out here in the backwoods just to see what it going on with this damn hardware. Hey, getting old is the shitz.
