I've seen the following:

S&W Governor...their version of the Taurus Judge. Will shoot .45LC, .45ACP and .410
Ithaca is back in the 1911 business
The Kimber Solo small 9mm
Polymer-framed Taurus Judge "Public Defender"
Bren-Ten is back...built by Spirit Arms and VLTOR
Freedom Arms single shot hunting pistol
Some new 6mmx45 cartridge...built on .223 cases? 100gr bullet at 2600 - 2800 FPS.Anything else?

The lightweight OBRs from Larue Tactical were the only thing I saw of any interest. 6lbs for the 5.56 version, 8lbs for the 7.62.

Overall kind of a downer. Nothing groundbreaking.

-KRISS announced semi and full auto configs for their new vector. Not sure if its only going to be offered as an AOW, or if they might put a 16" barrel on it...
(if you havent checked out the way this thing works, you should. Its beyond genius)

-I really like the new crimsontrace wood grips for 1911's
(not sure if theyre being offered for anything else?)

-LULA came out with the baby UPLULA for .22 mags
(pretty sure you can use it for .380 too if im not mistaken)

-Colts 1911-2011 model 1911pistol announced. I might just have to get one of my own [Wink]

-LSR-50 bullpup .50BMG announced by Sabre Defence. Dunno how they pulled it off, but it looks pretty sweet.

-Keltec apparently now has a bullpup shotgun? [Shock]

-Aimpoint now has something called a PRO (patrol rifle optic) which is basically a refined compM2 with a 2-MOA dot. Whoopee.

thats all i can think of off the top of my head....

Wow...

I just looked up that new Sabre .50BMG. I don't know if I like the looks of that or not.

OK, now I do. I like it.

Looks like Colt has their game on:

New modular rifle...switch from .308 to 5.56
Frontier Six Shooter is back
Mustang Pocket-Lite .380 is backI could get really excited about all of those offerings.

How common is 28 gauge ammo to find ?

28 ga shells are no problem I shoot one a lot. Best dove gun I have. Actually I'm not sure you would find the 28 much different in recoil than the 410. Much more efficient design. My barrel is a little longer than the judge but I don't like to brag [LOL]

Actually, 28 gauge isn't too hard to find. I've seen it at Wally World (not all the time), Sportsman's Warehouse usually has it, and I've found it at Jax in Ft. Collins as well. I always keep an eye out for it, for my O/U 28.

Yeah, but good luck finding buckshot or slugs. I don't think anyone has ever made 28 gauge buckshot.

DeadElephant
01-22-2011, 22:42
Yep I think you'll have to roll your own for slugs or buck.
I believe the nominal size is about .550 so it would be a bruiser.
Bet you could use a 54 cal blackpowder ball. If anyone wants to give it a go I'd love to watch...from my truck...with binoculars. [Beer]

I thought that the highlights were the Kel-tec shotgun, American rifle scope rings, CMMG's updated 22 ar conversion and their quick change ar upper setup. Posted on a different thread then found this one so...

Interesting...another example of what can't be done through legislation will be done through administrative means. Wouldn't be the first time. 1989 rings a bell.

If a guy was sittin' on a pile of these shotguns he just might be a potentially wealthy man after tomorrow.

I heard there was a new version of the Taurus Judge in 28 gauge.

from Jim Scoutten - Shooting USA on FaceBook
The Taurus Raging Judge 28 Gauge Revolver was Vaporware. No way to tell ATF that it's not a Short Barrel Shotgun, with no corresponding pistol cartridge. And no such cartridge can be made, with a bore diameter .050 inch over civilian legal limit of .5 inch.

I've been watching for it- and nada, zip... only another unconfirmed rumor that it was to be a "study" announcement, not a "ruling"...

looks like it was a stunt to increase sales? look at Gunbroker, and see how many Saiga shotgun auctions completed in the last 72 hours!

To top it off, Saiga was never mentioned by name- just an "shotgun importation ban"... except in the Prince Law blog

could have been the Taurus Raging Judge 28ga (if made in Brazil, would be imported, and by any measurement is legally a DD)

The ATF reportedly visited Taurus to inform them... this could all have started from a flippant remark by an agent, frustrated because Taurus apparently doesn't have lawyers smart enough to understand the DD definition...

Or it could be a ATF agent that doesn't understand how regulations and laws have been enforced in the past. You can't assume the ATF is correct given their history of inconsistent actions and flip-flops in the past.

My understanding is that in the past the ATF ruled that the bore for for a Destructive Device is measured across the top of the lands, not across the bottom of the grooves. The rifling for a 28 gauge is .498 across the tops of the lands. That's less than the magic half inch.

The only way we'll know is to wait and see what comes out eventually.

It has .052" deep rifling? (28 Ga = .550") That seems a bit excessive- but everything about it is excessive... put it next to a .410 Judge, and it makes them look tiny!
The other hurdle to pass muster as a pistol- what handgun round is it chambered for? Hard to pass it off as a pistol, when it only takes a shotgun round...

I certainly don't have any insight, and don't always assume the ATF is always correct... I was just guessing some more, in a way that doesn't involve instilling a panic-driven buying frenzy [Coffee]

If that is the case, then there is no such thing an AK or AR pistol.

don't give them any ideas....

I think those actually serve a purpose for them- it allows them to throw a "ban stick" at AP ammo... nothing illegal about AP rounds for rifles... but if someone makes a pistol in the caliber, then they have laws on the books to ban...
