Well it didnt take too long for Mr. "Gee Whiz I Run A Safe City So I Know What I Am Talking About" spouted off:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/04/AR2009080403132.html
He wants the name of every "Prohibited Person" in the NCIC.
Riiiight[ROFL2]
So, would that include him also?
So, would that include him also?
Of course, he has his armed body guards that are not prohibited.

Hey Burt (ETA: Is it Burt, or Bert?), I hate to be the one to point this out, but the article you quoted is from August 2009.
Anything current on this intended policy?
Maybe so, But he is at it again.. Saw a tidbit on the news..

In the opposite corner, the NRA's chief lobbyist, Chris W. Cox, calls Bloomberg an "elitist mayor with a big mouth . . . and a radical agenda . . . self-appointed mayor of America." And Thune's spokesman Kyle Downey says, "The fact that a guy who rides the New York subways with armed guards can tell the rest of America that they cannot defend themselves is absurd."
I could not have said it better myself

Sorry-old link but he was puffing his chest today:
http://www.statesman.com/news/nation/michael-bloomberg-urges-congress-to-strengthen-gun-control-1207331.html?cxtype=ynews_rss
NEW YORK — Invoking the memories of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Monday urged Congress to make sure the system for background checks on firearms purchases includes the names of everyone prohibited from buying weapons and closes loopholes that allow some sales to take place without checks.
"We cannot wait any longer," said Bloomberg, an advocate for stronger gun control who helped create Mayors Against Illegal Guns. "We cannot turn our backs on this national calamity any longer."
Bloomberg was joined at City Hall by Martin Luther King III, as well as family and friends of those injured and killed in notorious shootings in Tucson, Ariz., at Virginia Tech and at Columbine High School in Colorado.
Federal law prohibits certain people, like convicted felons, drug abusers and the mentally ill, from purchasing firearms, and since 1993, a national background check system has been in place.
But that system is far from complete, Bloomberg said, because all the required records haven't been added to it, and Congress hasn't provided all the funding needed to make sure that happens.
In addition, he said, loopholes in the law exempt some gun buyers from undergoing background checks but require it of others. For example, customers of licensed gun dealers must undergo background checks. But they're not required of those who buy from an "occasional" seller through places such as gun shows, or in private sales.

Agreed - those things kill more people in a week than people with guns do in a year.
Bloomberg and his anti-gun cronies won't be satisfied until they get every gun out of the hands of the common peasant, er... citizen. Too much of a risk to their power and control.
I realize that there are a LOT of misguided individuals who actually believe that disarming citizens will make everyone safer. These people have bought the anti-gun propaganda hook, line and sinker.
It's up to folks like us to bring as many non-gun owners into the fold as possible. We can re-educate these folk to get them to realize that guns are really nothing but tools. Tools for defense and for entertainment.
fuck bloombooger.
tell him to get rid of his armed guards and walk down the hood and stroll through the shittiest shanties in New York day in, day out.

The bad thing about this for us is our outstanding Goobernor, Juan Dickinpooper will lap up every drop of Cu-err Kool Aide that Bloominidiot spews, being a signature member of MAIG (Mayors Against Illegal Guns)
If Bloominidiot can't get his agenda through at a Federal level I could conceivably see State level restrictions attempted.
You know and interesting question arises from the Heller decision. The SCOTUS stated in their brief that a "class of firearm cannot be banned from possession, but regulation and restriction of a class is lawful(not a direct quote).
