View Full Version : Is it just me ???
Is it just me or is there more and more whining form the police and military lately????
First off id like to say my heart and prayers sincerely goes out to those friends and family of the fallen police and military personnel . But at the same time all law enforcement and military service men and women , should realize that they indeed took the job and all the hazards that come with it . If you became a police officer or joined the service for the money your doing the wrong job . Sorry but i feel that there is a lot of whining going on about police and military . If you did not join the police department to Serve , Protect and Help make our community a safer and nicer place , please quit . After spending my whole life in downtown areas ill say that not all cops are bad , jut too many join for the wrong reasons .With that being said , the same goes for our armed forces !!! Why do people honestly think that if they join they wont see combat ??? Hello its the military and there main job is to fight . If you don't want to fight , don't take the collage money , there are other ways to go to school . Believe me i am very happy there are cops around ( good and bad ) and i could not hold our armed forces ( as a whole ) in higher respect . Its just a far too many of the people take these jobs take them for the wrong reason .YOU take these jobs out of Honer , Duty and Respect , not money .
To those who joined up for the money ,YOUR A DUMB ASS .
To those in the service who joined for what i would call the right reason , GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK . We all owe you more than we can ever show or tell . Again thank you .

I don't see that it's any more prevalent now than it's ever been. And I got news for you...whining and bitching isn't limited to cops and the military.

You get money for making collages in the military?
I expected combat, but after a few trips I was burnt out. Some guys have spent more time deployed in the last nine years then they have spent at home.

Frankly, the thing that irritates me more, are those who've never served as a cop or military member complaining that cops and military personnel whine and complain too much. Until you've walked a mile in their shoes...
Now, I'm not directing the above at anyone in particular so no need to get your afterburners lit.

I couldn't come to any sort of a conclusion from reading your post, but have you served in the Military or worked in Law Enforcement?

Not sure if that was directed to the OP or me. In my case, yes. 32 years between the two.

OP, sorry for the confusion. I think unless you have served in either capacity, you shouldn't be questioning folks from either category. Just wondering if the OP has done either.

Excuse me but I can't leave this comment alone. Do you mean people who haven't served in the military or law enforcement shouldn't question the complaints of those do? That seems fair. Those who haven't walked in the shoes don't know what it is like.
Or, do you mean those that haven't served in the military or law enforcement have no right to criticize the actions of those doing such? If so, my comments would probably get me banned from here. Police state is not a highly regarded state for good reason. There are some heated threads about such right now.

The first one Sir
OP, sorry for the confusion. I think unless you have served in either capacity, you shouldn't be questioning folks from either category. Just wondering if the OP has done either.
no i have not done ether . during the time when i wanted to serve in the armed forces I was ineligible to serve . As a result i have done what i can buy working with the U.S.O and have taken a job that keeps me on base and in government faculties . Do i agree that people who serve in law enforcement and the military should get paid more YES I DO . The reason i say what say is far to often i hear people in service bitching that they have to endure danger at work . Yes doing dangerous things at work sucks big ass , and yes nobody should like doing them . But if you step up for the job that's the job .
Yes there are people who i have met ( too many ) that joined the service just for the collage money or G.I. benefits and this was the cause for the comment . As for the police I honestly wish they got paid more and that people handled there own problems more so they could catch criminals and not waste there time with peoples petty crap all day .
Like i said
"To those in the service who joined for what i would call the right reason , GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK . We all owe you more than we can ever show or tell . Again thank you . "

Understand. But I gotta say I never heard anyone complain about danger on the job. Especially the cops I worked with. That's what we all lived for, as a matter of fact.
Mostly people bitched about long hours, relatively low pay, pain in the ass supervisors, lousy equipment, administrators, etc....

But hurley842002 answered my question and I respect his response and have no issues with it. In fact, I agree with it. I suppose we could fight about who is more polite but that just isn't exciting.
That is the problem with this board. There might be a few eccentric types, like me, but it is actually a civilized place.
Perhaps the owner could have a Troll of the Week program and allow some truly vile subhuman in so we could all flail him for a day or two.

collage - it's one of those neat posters your kid makes by cutting up a bunch of photos and pasting it all together.
college - an institution of learning for educations beyond a high school diploma.
Thank god my 9/11 GI bill covers the latter. Much more expensive and time consuming.
Just sayin...

first, i cant believe anyone would even talk about this when they have never served.
second. there are only 180,000 or so people deployed around the world right now. over 1,400,000 people are on active duty. and another 1,200,000 on reserve duty. so, i dont think most will ever "see combat". you are clueless.
and i hate to get into these conversations, but what the fuck?
obviously i dont care if people talk about whatever they want to talk about. but, why would any MAN not want to serve his country and pay for his freedom? and then sit around and talk about those who do.
I suppose we could fight about who is more polite but that just isn't exciting.
I'm just not even sure how I would even go about that one. [LOL]

What about the Troll of the Week? Just one every so often and he could be banned after we all beat him up for a day or two?
Some flaming lefty or just someone who is difficult. It would liven things up without turning this into ARF.COM.

There are a couple of boards out there that have them. There only purpose in life is to whip 99.9% of the membership into a frenzy. It is NOT fun to watch. normal members eventually will say something stupid and get themselves banned.

I was just kidding. I used to lurk on ARF and rarely post and see really rude responses to sincere questions. I feel honored that switching to gmail banned me from there.
I'm sure the major reason that this is a civilized place is that the mods keep the trolls out. Places that don't keep the anger level down burn themselves out as the sane people leave.
