hey guys i'm not looking for a build party as i have all the needed tools and such but just wanted to gauge interest on an ak build party and see if there's need to have another. just let me know who is interested and in need. i can only host about 2 or 3 people as more then that and it gets cramped

I'd love to have the opportunity. I've got a Polish underfolder that I'd like to do the right way (vs. screws).

sounds nice i just did a romy with polish uf trunnions my new pneumatic rivet sqeezer works very well on all the short rivets on the front and rear trunnions. if there's not enough people to get a bp together then i could always give you a hand if you'd like

i have my shop just need to build benches from some spare pallet rack steel i have also i need to move all my tools out there and most important for this time of year i need to get some propane bottles out there for my portable heaters. depending when we all decide to do a bp i might be able to get my shop in eaton ready to go by the way jim you could just drive into it and hang in your car right by us, i decided to dedicate a corner in my 4000ft2 steel building for my workshop area ;) if we do it out there i have a big 60 gallon compressor for blasting if needed (i don't have a blaster yet though.
you can build a blaster cabinet fairly easy
one of the guys i know here used a 55 gal drum for one and a preasure tank
i would think one would have to put in a good iron grate in it so the blast media dosent chew it up

one of these days i'll build one my dad also is trying to get me to build a paint booth in our shop as well. jim i have a chop saw out there maybe i'll have to kidnap you some time if you'd like and have you help me weld together my benches, i'm sure i'd have some spare steel for you too

I'd be down. Like Not_A_Llama, I have a screw build that needs to be torn apart and done right.
I don't have much in the way of tools but am willing to pitch in a 12 pack or case of beer and am very capable of grunt work. Haha.

geez andrew-diddnt they tell ya in boot never to volenteer for anything?!![LOL]
yupp he's got ideas!!!ya know justin they have support groups for that!!![ROFL1][ROFL2]
nah but anyway a good bench setup is key its a pain to rivit when the receiver isnt held down properly-also a good setup to bolt down the trigger guard jig would be ideal
im modifying my jig so i can clamp down the receiver to it-i learned after that last one i did,it kept slipping and tilting making it a pita!!
well too bad i cant be there for the fun but if you guys need the stocks refinished ask justin to see my work and lemme know ;)

i think jeff mentioned something about you and your love for getting your hands on polish ak parts. at his request ive been checking around for another one of those bipods that i have. I'm glad to say that i have had some luck in finding one. this one is pricey but it's brand new and comes with the pouch. I'll pm you the link. I can say that i have never regretted buying mine, military grade parts dont get much better than this.
Cheers, Nick

I have to admit the set on the left gives me a boner. My girls a sandy blonde and i think the wood would compliment her while shes pointing my own gun at me in a blind rage. Might end up leading to some hot sex. Save those grips till i give you my home addy in a private message. Dont let jeff talk you out of them either, we all know how he is with parts that arent nailed down or permattached to a gun lol. Nice work on those grips by the way Bob, real nice work.

my polish type underfolder i just built was built on an ak-builder polish underfolder flat. it worked like a dream. also if you want a 100% receiver nodak offers a polish pattern underfolder receivers

now that i look at it, i don't need a bent receiver. i need a milled receiver

AKs don't need a milled reciever. Stamped works just fine.

ah
did your kit come with everything else?ie-barrel barrel parts and all the internals?depending on how the milled stub was cut you can do a reweld.
you might have to pick up a few other cut up milled reciever pieces to get something decent to weld up.
post up some pics of what you got,im sure some of the guys could steer you in the right direction
jreifsch80
02-18-2011, 01:40
or is it a stamped and riveted folding stock or a milled one? a milled stock is for a milled receiver and a stamped riveted stock is for a stamped receiver, it's far easier to find polish trunnions than polish receiver stubs, though cnc warrior makes polish pattern milled receivers ;) also does it have a barrel in the kit? if so it it a thread in barrel or press and pin?
