Speaking of Iran 1979, have you seen this crazy stuff?

"Credible Sport", the plan was to land a C-130 in the stadium across from the American Embassy.

not yet
but give it time
it's rapidly falling apart
the most interesting thing about it all is how fast "civilized" government fails.
I mean from totally in power to total chaos in 3 days.

It would have worked too... if I remember correctly, the test pilot hit the reverse rockets way too early during that landing. The herc dropped like a brick and broke its wing and vert.

I am going to speak from experience here.
Living in ANY Middle-Eastern Country, if you don't have a Go Bag next to the front door with a few K in Various strong currencies, clothes and necessities, and Springs in your ass ready to launch you in a hurry, you are in the shallow end of the pool.
Sorry.

Nope..but the chances of having another regime who is against us or the Israel just increase dramatically. Most Egyptians I know are very moderate - much more moderate than the Saudis. We can only hope for the best case scenario.

The Egyptian police are no longer patrolling the Rafah border crossing into Gaza. Hamas armed men are entering into Egypt and are closely collaborating with the MB [Muslim Brotherhood]. The MB has fully engaged itself in the demonstrations, and they are unsatisfied with the dismissal of the Cabinet. They are insisting on a new Cabinet that does not include members of the ruling National Democratic Party.
This is a win win situation for the HAMAS. I suspect the IDF will have to reoccupied the Philadephi Route.

Awesome. I've never seen a C-130 or any cargo aircraft get off of the ground that fast. Spectacular.

I like the contrails formed by the tips of the propellers in slow motion, shows how they're actually corkscrewing through the sky. Too bad it didn't work. We also lost 8 guys in a botched rescue attempt under Carter.
I still wouldn't say Iranian revolution was the fault of Carter any more than I'd say the Egyptian revolution was caused by Obama. I'm gonna go with team "Local Conditions", just like all other popular uprisings.
