I have an opportunity to buy a Glock 21 at a great price but a couple of red flags were raised by the seller. How can I find out if a gun is stolen or a safe buy?

Please email me at wctriumph@aol.com

Thanks for your efforts.

Ask the seller for the serial number and tell him you are going to run it by the Sherrif.

If they balk or bail you have your answer.

Does the guy selling it look like Chris Rock in that movie New Jack City? (I loved that movie because he played himself)

You could call the PD and run the serial number and you don't have to be in possesion of the gun. But if its real cheap you should buy it and turn it in so it will get back to its owner. That's good looking out for your fellow gun owner.

Yeah, me too, especially since I just bought one (though it was a "right" one!) :)

Thanks to all for your comments. The Sheriff wants me to come in with the SN and fill out a form but my time does not allow that. I am not too far from the CBI from where I work so maybe I can take a lunch break and see what they can do.

We will see what happens. Thanks again you guys for all the help and insight, your advice is always welcome and appreciated.

Call the local sheriff and have them run the serial number in NCIC and if it's been listed as stolen, that's where it will be listed. If it was used in a crime, that's another story. A bullet or cartridge case fired from the pistol may be cataloged, but you can't really find that out. If you use the gun in self defense' it will get test shot and ran in the database. If there's a hit then, "Lucy, you got some splaining to do."

Some don't like BOSs, but that stupid piece of paper sitting in your files collecting dust could be quite a difference maker. But I digress.
