My business partner in the neighboring county called asking about the upcoming show at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Denver on March 4-5, 2006.

Then he called back saying that Tanner has a show in Denver on March 18-19, 2006.

He's looking for a Socom 16.

Which one might he have better luck finding one at...or find a better price on one at, please?

Told him I'd come here for the best advice. Thanks!

I haven't been to either one recently, That said, with the most recent time for both, I'd say the one at the Holiday Inn would be the better of the two. Tanner has slipped way down in my opinon. You can still get some fairly decent deals on ammo and reloading stuff, everything else there seems way overpriced from what I've seen.

Is a "Socom 16" some kind of Beanie Baby?

I've heard talk of a lot of problems with the short M1As. Those M1As aren't cheap at around $1500. Is your friend fully aware of what he's getting into?

The 18" Scout/Squad has been more reliable.

Off-topic, but I've heard 16" AR-10's don't run as well as the 20" version either.

I would go with the Tanner show, personally. It's pretty much the same stuff, Tanner is easier to get thru. And "SOCOM 16's" Kick ASS!! You will not be disapointed with one. Ryan

Thanks Ryan. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Seems like people are hearing lots of talk or believing everything they read on the forums rather than actually shooting one or even holding one.

I did relay the info about the bolt problems & my business partner said if it was a problem in any Socom he found, he'd take it to a gunsmith & just have it fixed...once and for good.

Sorry I missed you at Nick's low light class a couple weeks back.

Thanks, Yes I actually have a SOCOM 16, and it is an exellent gun. HOWEVER, I have found that mags can be hit or miss so buy one and try it out before buying a bunch. Ryan

in the past, when I had money and went to the funshow, I found the one at the Holiday Inn better than the one at the Merchandise Mart. YMMV

It is at I-70 and Chambers NE corner in Aurora, in the pavilion on the east side of the hotel.
