So I have 2 different powders to work up loads on and both of their websites don't have data for the supplies I have on hand.

Here's what we got.

Bullets: Hornady 55gn FMJBT
Brass: Lake city
Primers: CCI 400

First powder. RamShot TAC

They have no data on their site for Hornady FMJBT bullets. From looking at the other data I was figuring on starting at 22gn and working up from there.

Second powder. Alliant reloader 10x. Probably should use reloader 15, but this is what I have, so I want to use it.

The data that they provide is also pretty useless and doesn't cover the bullets that I have. I have no idea where to start with this one because they call out a different powder for 55gn bullets.

Yes, eventually I will have the manuals for all these powder manufactures, but I don't yet, so I could use some advice.

Don't worry about the type of bullet so much as the grain weight. Look at the data on Ramshot all the starting charges are all the same. Just start with the min and work it up from there. TAC start charge 22.7 grains Velocity 2,850 ish +

Barrel length and twist will play an important roll for accuracy!!! Almost any one can put in a powder charge, seat a bullet, pull the trigger, and send it down the tube.

Just make sure you don't go over the max preasure and you should be fine!! [Beer]

I load 23.5 Ramshot TAC with 55gr FMJ BT and LC brass. Works awesome and clean too.

I've got a lot of rounds made up with Reloader 10X, 55gr fmj, 23 grains. Good to go.

My plinker round is 24 grains of TAC with a 55 grain FMJ and a CCI 400 primer. I use them in a DPMS 16" with a 1-9 twist.

I also worried about the type of bullet but the advise offered by DSB OUTDOORS is sound. I have used the above load with several types of FMJ and they all seem to do the trick.

Thanks all, that gives some good starting points. Will be loading them up next week when I have the time.

All is based on tac...

i use 24.7 for 50gr vmax, it is frig'n accurate and deadly on varmint cong.
favorite load for 3gun, using 55gr fmj, is quoted below...Bullet is seated to standard length.

I didn't look, but if I remember correctly it's 25.2 or 25.3 with a 55 gr FMJ. Download the PDF from the site. I don't have my data on hand but I think I'm loading 25.0 gr of Tac with the 55s.

I've been very happy with 23.1gr TAC with hornady 55gr fmj, CCI 41 primer and LC brass. Mid power load, been pretty accurate in my AR's and model 70.
