Imagine the application on our soldiers, and all other burn related injuries. It takes 90minutes from biopsy from healthy part of the skin, culturing, to spraying. Within days, your skin heals. In fact, the healing time is cut down to the point where infection does not occur.

This is also one of the major advances of non-embryonic stem cell research.

That is awesome... that'll be a huge resource for military and fire depts. when it becomes commonplace.

Totally not what I was expecting BTW [ROFL1]

Didn't Bush's religious beliefs have something to do with that? Never made any sense to me why the Gooberment wouldn't support it. Stem cell research should be at the top of the list, IMO.

If it will save the lives and shorten the healing of this nations Heroes, I Say screw religious Ideologies, you aren't the one Burnt.

We owe it to our Public Servants and Armed Services to have this on a well funded fast-track.
I won't even mention the fact that it will also save Children.

I propose a 20% paycut in any and all state and Federal elected official salaries to fund it!

Go ahead, vote against it and commit political suicide.[LOL]

I was under the impression that other countries have made all kinds of progress with stem cell research WITHOUT using embryonic stem cell research; and that embryonic was pretty much a dead end. I did hear that on the internet though....

There are 2 types of stem cells; embrionic and host. Embryonic stem cells are the ones that come from embryos, host stem cells come from the person getting the treatment. Embryonic stem cell research has issues because of the source and have been shown to have significant issues when using them in a host body that does not share DNA, including becoming cancerous.

Host stem cells have never had a ban on them. They are harvested from the person that needs the treatment (like in the video) and are 100% compatable because they were retrieved from the person getting the treatment. It doesn't require embryo harvesting, abortions etc and doesn't come with all of the bad side-effects like a % chance to turn into cancer cells as they split.

It seems only Americans are obsessed with stem cells being harvested from embryos and trying to make it work versus getting stem cells from the host body which takes about an hour at most and are 100% compatable and are far superior to embryonic. The ban on embryonic stem cells is what fast-tracked the technology and processes used to harvest stem cells from the person needing the treatment and lead to THIS technology.

Would you rather be burned and get sprayed with something that can bring you back to normal in 4 days or get sprayed with something that can bring you back to normal in 4 days but you need to be screened for skin cancer until you are sure it worked?

Religious ideology lead to this technology because we'd still be beating our heads against embryonic stem cells if not for the ban.

We are not funding Embryonic Stem Cell. The argument has always been between Embryonic Stem Cell vs Adult Stem Cell. The Skin Gun is a result of Adult Stem Cell research. This is used by the opponent of Embryonic Stem Cell research that we can advance in Stem Cell research w/o going into Embryonic SC.

We are so far behind in medical research and technology it isn't funny.
Want to be free of arthritis, go to Germany or the Netherlands.
India pretty much leads the way in medical breakthroughs and cures, better knee replacement stem cell repair for spinal injuries, cancer treatments, etc.

There is too much $$$ made by repressing successful treatments of a problem by pharmaceutical co's than there is to cure the person.

As for state and elected, they should serve the People for FREE and have a side job to support themselvers

The Skin Gun is awsome, but our government will want to continue testing till they can find a way to capitalize on the results.

Great info, thank you! I haven't followed any of this, all I've ever heard is "stem cell research". Nice to know some details now. A lot of people can/will benefit frm this in the future!

I'm really curious if they can use this on people with present healed burns. If they can take someone that has lived their life with horrible burns, abrase the scar tissue off and turn it back into normal, pliable skin. There was a girl in my grade school that had burns over 80% of her body. As she grew they had to cut the scar tissue to allow it to grow with her. It was horrible to see such a good person go through such hell.

Ta-daaa.... Bottom line in America is always money. Call me stupid/naive/whatever, but I firmly belive that we COULD cure certain forms of cancer... there'd just be no money in it. It's more profitable to cater to symptoms than to cure the whole beast.
