My wife and I are both retired.
She has a Trak Phone that is always losing calls. So next month will be the last month for it.
Don't need pictures, internet connection, texting, just reliable call capability.

Jitterbug looks like too much of an ancient person's phone.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I have a nokia prepaid flip phone from t mobile. I don't know what model, it's not even listed on their site anymore. same one that my 12 year old nephew has.

works great, no frills.

works for me because I don't use it much for calls.

if she talks a lot on the phone you may want to go with a plan.

I am not too dissatisfied with AT&T Service.
Im Sure a basic plan wouldn't be too terrible. and they also have Prepaid.

Motorola F3, the "Zombie phone"... I have one as a backup, quite like it. Battery life is outstanding, at least when it's left off. Costs about $20.

E-ink screen doesn't display all text message characters correctly though. It has voice help prompts. I've only made 2 calls with it, I'm using an international calling SIM that never expires, the downside is talk time is insane per minute. I keep it for emergencies, since I don't have normal landline in my house.

Verizon seems like the best service around if you are on the front range. I have T-mobil right now and service is HORRIBLE. I will be going with either Verizon or AT&T when my contract is up.

i can tell you i have a buddy with At&t and i have verizon, verizon has much better coverage on the front range, and honestly everywhere i have ever been verizon is better. there have been numerous times where i had to lend him my phone bc he had no service and i had 3g

I have had Tracfone for over 3 years now and I love it. I did just get a new one and transferred the # to it. The one thing I was concerned about was the quality of the call and my old Motorola was great.

I got a LG420g at wal-mart for $20 and it came with the car and hands free kit. Also came with double min for the life of the phone. $20 gets me 120 min and 3 months of service so I pay $80 per year for 480 min. I only use mine when I travel or TDY. One of the first things I did was check the quality of the call and it sounds great. It does have a few other features like a cheap camera but all I do is make calls on it. I do not know how the new one will be but my old one never dropped a call anywhere.

Now a year ago I bought the wife a cheap one and it dropped calls all over the place.

Starts with an S?

Singular ? ATT, formerly Singular, formerly ATT wireless.
I had a basic pay as you go plan from ATT wireless a few years ago with a basic phone , the monthly bill was $12 to $15 a month, the highest it ever got to was $22.

AT&T Bought Cingular

I Believe that is what you are trying to reference.

I have an antique cell phone for anyone interested. It mounts on the dash looks like a regular phone and you need a truck to haul the rest.

Theres a company that sells prepaid phone plans, and they backend off the verizon network (best coverage in colorado). Can't for the life of me think of the name though. Starts with an S? Have friends that use it, you can get a hell of a steal by using them instead of verizon prepaid, and its on the same network so no difference. Probably not very helpful here am I.

Straight talk. It's a division of trac-phone which is part of verizons network. I've had mine for a couple years now and it works great and is $36 a month for 1000 min 1000 text and very crappy mobile web. The downside is the customer service is horrible and of course is overseas to cut cost.

Verizon appears to be the consensus.

Anyone use the Clarity Life or Motorola RA2R2 phones?
