No .. but I did when the iPhone 4 came out on AT&T... actually it was more like 4 am since the systems went nuts LOL

I've rarely had an issue on AT&T... maybe I'm just lucky.

I have an iPhone 4 on AT&T. I plan to switch on 2-10-11. AT&T blows in my opinion.

at&t has been promising 3g to southern colorado for over a year and still nothing but pushed back expected dates, they said by the end of summer last year, then the end of the year, now by the end of march. thats why I opted to pay extra for the 3g model of the ipad when it came out, and still nothing but edge and gprs,(basically dialup speeds) maby loosing a few million customers might wake them up.

Apple is a closed book. No one knows when the iPhone with 4G will arrive. There is a good chance it will be summer though. The current iPhone 4 on AT&T and Verizon only supports 3G. :)

I just laugh when everyone talks about how fast their 4g phone is, hell at&t dont even have 3g here yet, and verizon will be lucky to have 4g down here by this time next year. so a 4g phone down here is totally pointless. there will be a iphone 7 by time we get 4g and get to take advantage of the not even out yet 4....

I've been with Verizon for over 10 years now. My contract is up in about 9 days. I don't really want to renew my contract, but I don't want to go to any other company either. Verizon works for me out in the Pawnee Grass Lands, and up at my cabin in Tabernash. My Fiance's Cricket phone doesn't work at either place, or I'd just get Cricket.

For me its a love hate relationship, I love that anywhere I go, I have coverage. What I hate is the fact that they charge for every little service, I mean really do I have to pay 5 bucks a month just to get visual Voice-mail?!?! Although Visual Voice-mail is free with the iPhone.

I cut my bill in half by removing the internet, VZ navigator, and reducing my minutes to 400/mo with unlimited text. Then I started going over on my minutes, and instead of paying only $50, I was paying $125 (instead of the original $90)! The first time, I thought I just missed a month and was paying for two months. Now I'm back up to 900 minutes/month, unlimited text, and 5 numbers that get unlimited talk for like $80/mo.

What bothers me is that the guy at the store told me that without a contract, their cheapest phone was like $220. They have some CRAP phones and for that price, I can get a laptop computer. I saw WAY better prices online though.

I'd consider getting a phone that worked as a wi-fi hotspot, but only if I can stream netflix on my Wii from it, and it is robust enough to cancel my cable internet from Comcast, AND it only costs me that extra $30/mo unlimited Data charge. Some how I doubt that is the case, but I haven't looked yet.

If its verizon, the 3G hot spot itself is 2gigs a month. then its $20plus for every gig after that. You should be fine if your just streaming

we need a cell company to put a tower up out here. The nearest one is 18 miles from my house. I have to go outside and climb on the roof of the metal barn, while holding a steel rod in a lightning storm to get coverage.

but, then I allways feel so tingly, I dont know why...

I have verizon, att doesnt even come close to having coverage out here.

AT&T sucks. I live in the sticks and my iphone was searching for any kind of service. Att didn't seem to care at all. I ended up buying the 3G microcell. Now I have 5 bars of 3G at my house all the time. I wasn't thrilled about having to buy the microcell for $150, but our contracts aren't up for some time, so I guess it was worth it.

I love my iPhone, but AT&T really does suck. I'll be watching how the Verizon one does. I'll also be curios to see the data plans from V.

ok, after reading about the microcell on Colowyo post, I have questions. Does verizon have something like this? Does anyone have any experience with the antennas and boosters they sell that increase your homes signal? Like Colowyo, I live out away from the city(thank God), but I could use my phone occasionally if I had coverage. Plus, if I could get the verizon to work, then I could get the iphone and or droid and ditch my home internet service.

If you have good at&t service like me or the $150 micro tower works then go with at&t. I've had mostly good luck with them and you can talk and get data at the same time. I use that a lot. Like when my wife calls with traffic problems I can look at the traffic maps and talk at the same time. Just my opinion. I've had mostly good performance with at&t which also has a faster 3D connection than venison. As long as you have good service. Just saying Verison isn't the perfect solution.

HBAR,

We had one installed in my bosses house, cause he was in an little valley that just lost all cell coverage.. the antenna was mounted along an eve in the roof, which apparently gets good signal... so now his phone works at home better than at the office. We even put a stronger one in the office and it works wonders.. while there are still spots that signal is weak due to electrical interference.. it totally fixed the several dead areas prior.

It only works by boosting the existing signal, so if you are too far out and that's the reason you don't get a signal, I would think you'll be SOL.. get up on your roof and see if you get signal (i know you probably can't get up there but..) It's worth a try.

The network might be slower but if you have no service because at&t's coverage blows then verizon having a slower network is irrelevant right?

I guess what I am saying is I am willing to use a slower network (in some areas) rather than have no service at all with at&t.

As for " better coverage " from Verizon ............

I've traveled the country .. coast to coast.. with every version of the iPhone ( yes I'm that much of an Apple nerd)

Only time my iPhone ( on AT&T) didn't work ... neither did anyone else's phones ( T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint)

the signal thing is over rated.

as for the "death grip" I've not had too many problems with my iPhone 4. maybe a few .. but in places that get crap signal anyways.

It' all in what works for you. for me personally.. not being able to do data and phone at the same time is a deal breaker ( my original iPhone was like this) I'd miss calls ( they would go to v-mail) while I was surfing the web. and once you've been able to look something up while talking on the phone to get a " save the day" answer... you'll never go back LOL .

I work in the circled area, the dark blue(or lack there of) is at&t 3g, the red in map 2 is verizon 3g. looks like at&t sucks where I spend my day,(already knew that because I have an ipad with 3g) unless you like dial up speeds that is. and to sweeten the pot, my employer has an account with verizon so I get 17% off my personal account

I too have travel most of the US and noticed that in the cities the coverage is about equal, still notice more dropped calls from buddies with AT&T. The big difference is outside the city iv seen AT&T have to service all day with verizon having 3g all day. That being said I would wait till a 4G (service) phone comes out those speeds are so fast and you can get voice and data at the same time

Version?
Which Platform do you prefer?

Saying "Droid is better" is pretty vague.
There are so many different configurations on so many platforms with so many different phone manufacturers it isn't funny.

Sadly that is a switching/frequency technology that is pretty proprietary at this point.
We looked into it for a military application and it was pretty much a NO.

in all honesty SOME over the alleged coverage issues can be attributed to cheap or "friday" phones with Bad antennae or structural barriers.

same account, same location I can get two entirely different reading from 2 different phone manufacturers.
you buy a $9 phone you are getting $9 coverage :)

sometimes I can be an a room and walk from one side to the other and get different signal readings

I've heard people ask about signal boosters because the "Cant get signal in their basement"
Really?

So in all honesty those variables should be considered when choosing a plan/coverage/phone as well.
